1984 blames societies loss of control of on the lack of publications and information easily available to people. For the most 1984 is required reading, which is good, but that doesn't mean all of the students reading it are understanding it. This is largely because of the internet. In a world where you can talk to anyone in the world in a split second, converse with someone you haven't seen in years, pick-up exactly where you left off and you don't even need to see each other is a daunting idea that 1984's society can't fathom. Big Brother in 1984 would have a difficult time keeping track of everything online. Information can be deleted just as fast as it is added, making it hard to track its movement and more importantly its existence. The internet is a tool that many abuse and violate everyday. IT was created for the quick access of information. Now it is used to keep track of what your friends are doing every minute of everyday. It is on a personal level what Big Brother was doing in 1984, but this time you can't suffer many consequences from stating your opinion. Thanks to the internet the threat of a force blocking the sharing of information and the devolution of the human race is highly unlikely. If the internet was in 1984 to much proof would exist for people to accept the reality Big Brother was feeding them. IT is almost in the Matrix, the people would deny it and reject the reality and awake from it. With the internet we are likely to continue our information sharing and not be deprived of the ability to write whatever we feel for anyone to read. If only this ability was shared in the reality of 1984.

Nothing posted to the internet just disappears, it can always be tracked down and used, and the fact that it should be harder to track anybody be cause of the internet is plain wrong, the internet makes the governments jobs a lot simpler, people actually post where they are most of the time, really it wouldn't be that hard to create some computer to simple collect the information and update the whereabouts of person X, also his car has a GPS tracking device in it, his cellphone broadcasts his signal (not through GPS, it does this to get a signal, as it is a triangular system so to measure the time distance from each mast would give a quiet accurate idea of where he was, and all cookies are kept on big websites, which includes his IP address, so there is really it is quiet easy to survey people online.

In Italy there is something very similar.. the Government controls all the principal TVnetworks, and a lot of newspapers. There isn't a real freedom of information. Of course, we are a free country, but the rights are sometimes only on the papers (especially when we talk about freedom of speech, and freedom from the propaganda of the premier. The propaganda is everywhere ..) Well, we need an Obama also in Europe .. Bye
