Do you think it is right to leave elderly people in old age homes? I think it is very selfish on our part to do so.

I think old people should be put in rest homes only if they need more care than their children can give. Usually, it falls on the daughter to take care of the parent. I believe the other siblings should help, too. If the elderly person has to go to a rest home the family should visit daily.

hi,be cool..if the same is done by us in 15 years back ,leaving elders alone is straight away very WRONG....But if you think practically...BOTH partners are doing jobs..is it possible to drop one person without doing job to see elders...elders are habituated to live independently..in a large, spaceous houses...are they adjust with small apartments..food habbits..time pass..health care..so many problems...THINK PRACTICAL...NOT FOR THE SAKE THAT JUST WE HAVE TO SEE ELDERS..They will be happy in oldage homes..provided we have fallow up.

My Wife's parents are in their eighties. Her Mother has Alzheimer's and is very weak and can't care for herself. Her Father has had both knees replaced and has an old football shoulder injury and is unable to lift his wife into the bath or into bed. The best care for her Mother is to be had in a nursing home where the staff are trained in how to look after the elderly

I think it really depends on the situation. Sometimes I think they may receive better care in a nursing home rather then at a family member's home.
