Let's be frank here. In most situations, do you laugh out loud when you type "lol"? The reason this question comes into my mind is that the word "lol" has become so popular that whenever you come across something funny or merely makes you smile, you will type "lol" right away. I seldom laugh out loud when I "lol", lol.

In most situation, I don't really laugh out loud when I type LOL. It just indicates that what's said is funny or made me laugh but not loud. It's also when something makes me smile.

I dont. If I type it in all caps - then I really laughed out loud. However, if I am laughing really hard at something I will typer rofl...lol is more of a smile or maybe a little giggle than anything, like you said. Its true it is over used, but I have a very sarcastic friend who uses it to make sure I know that she is just kidding.

Hi tian, I don’t laugh out when I use lol, but there must be smile in my face or I am happy much and enjoying the joke. It is not necessary to laugh aloud when we use that expression. We are using the same just to convey we are enjoying the humour in what we wrote for them. I am using the same when there is something to laugh.

When I type LOL then I feel like laughing so I use it.. though I don't use it most often. I'm like just so tired you know of those people who like use LOL in like every other sentence. It is one of many initialisms for expressing bodily reactions, in particular laughter, as text, including initialisms for more emphatic expressions of laughter such as LMAO ROTFL or ROFL and BWL. Other unrelated expansions include the now mostly historical "lots of luck" or "lots of love" used in letter-writing. Be "correct" with your use of "lol" at all times so that you don't offend anyone.

when i type lol i just laugh in my mind or something. Sometimes i do laugh. I think lol is just to tell the person that you are laughing although your not.
