Online phone numbers

I have just started to do paid offers online. I have noticed many ask for a phone number. I don't want to give out my home or cell number. Is there a place online where I can get a free phone number? I think this would be a much better way to go. Thanks for any help.

Indeed it would be safer for you if you didn't use your home number and personal cellphone number. I have heard of Skype giving personal skype numbers to people who enroll. You have to check it out. http://www.skype.com

I checked out skype and to get a number it cost 18 bucks for three months :( thanks for answering.
