There is a growing trend available nowadays where professionals who are doctors or engineers are taking the job of a manager in an investment bank or are going for other administrative services. The amount of money spent by them to become professionals if they give up their respective fields and join other fields also there will be a shortage of professionals in the country as a majority of them would have opted for a lucrative job elsewhere away from their profession.Do you feel that this is admissible or it should be prevented?

Your arguments are reasonable. It can really create a shortage of workplaces in the country. But then again, it's the employer who decides whether to employ the person that is already having a job or not. Employers have right to choose and usually they choose a person without additional job. Allowing people to have an additional job is good when there is lack of workforce in country, because otherwise some positions would be left unfilled in the companies. But it all depends on the situation in country.

Well, of course a person to fill a certain position must have an appropriate educational grade. You can't be a doctor without a proper medical knowledge.

It's true that employers select the people who they think will help them to grow and be an asset for their organization. But don't you think that the employers need to appoint the right candidate for a right job?Now you cannot appoint an engineer to do a clerical job and neither a doctor can be appointed to work as technician.I have seen people who are engineers being appointed as officers of banks. Now what kind of service will the bank render to it's customer? How the employer will utilise him? Thanks for your response.

People have the right to persue thier own happiness. If someone trained in a field and is unhappy or unable to make a living at it, then by all means they should be allowed to go into another profession. I studies computer science in college only to work in the marketing field for agriculture. Sure I could of made more money in the computer world but after going to school I realized that I was not happy doing computers and wanted to work in a field with more interaction with people.

Fine so the job that you are doing right now suits you at least that's what you feel. Now without hurting you I like to ask you that are you utilising your education properly? If you were dissatisfied with computer science then why didn't you change your subject and selected something that would have been of interest to you?Don't you feel that you have wasted a few years of your life pursuing something that was of no use to you?In fact to be true even I gave up my CA degree as I was not satisfied and I believe that I really wasted 3 years of my life which could have been utilised more fruitfully.Thank you for your response.

The fact of the matter was, I had too much invested in my education by the time I realized that this was not the field for me that it was cheaper to complete this field of study. Then if I choose to go back at a later point, I can get a minor in another field and don't have to take but a few classes specific to what I choose to study. So no this was not time wasted for me; instead I think it actually helped me become a better employee in my current field becuase I am able to do some things that most people that study only marketing would not have experienced.

The example that you gave is similar to the one of Chetan Bhagat who is a graduate from IIT and then completed his management diploma from IIM.Both these two are prominent institute in India and he selected to become a writer. However,he gave fillip to the creative instinct that was within him and so did Grisham. But do you think Grisham would have been as successful if he had opted for medicine after becoming a lawyer. Now that's what I wanted to say. There is no harm in pursuing a creative career but pursuing another carreer which also requires certaim amount of training and knowledge is absolutely not acceptable.

As far as I am concerned, I think it should be allowed to take part in other fields. I think if they are still have other charater, I think it is Ok. Maybe doing a lot of professional work, they will be tired of this. Then they can change a job .

Professionals are those who are expected to know their job inside out ,they are the specialists in their job.Do you really believe that a renowned doctor who attends to at least 100 or more patients per day will go for a Plumber's job just to relax, now come on you don't mean that do you?If he is tired then he can take rest and get back to his work with renewed vigour after sometime, isn't it?
