Have you started yours yet? I started mine on Monday, and I still have quite some way to go before I'm done, but I figure that every step that I take is one in the right direction. The first thing that we've done is try to get all of the junk picked up off of our floors and get ready to vacuum and shampoo the carpet. I still need to do the vacuuming and shampooing and I need to wash all of the winter stuff before I store it for the summer. I also want to do a deep cleaning of our bathroom, kitchen and office. How are you doing with your spring cleaning? What all do you intend to get done? What is your time frame for the work that you hope to do?

I have started a little bit of it but not very much. We put plastic up on our windows this winter and we have went ahead and taken it down and got out our bikes(if that can be considered spring cleaning) but other than that I haven't done anything else. There are quite a few things that we want to get done this spring/summer. I need to clean all the windows, paint the kids rooms and my craft room, put new gravel in the driveway, plant some plants around my garage, retile the kitchen floor, and fix the steps on both sides of the house. There isn't really a time limit on the few things just want them done by the end of the summer. There are a few things that have a time limit only because of a few of the things that we will be doing throughout the summer but not a big rush on things.

If I was able to, there are a lot of things that I would like to get done at my house this year. I would like to get the kitchen floor, the hallway floor and the floor in the office redone and I would also like to replace the cabinets in the kitchen and get our meant to be installed appliances installed, but I don't know when that is going to happen. They are things that have to be done, but I really don't have a time limit on them either.

I started my spring cleaning last week. Because my older daughter had off school for the week to give me a little help and so I didn't have to leave the house. Our house needs a major spring clean. I have thrown away tons of stuff this week. Other family memebers have lived in this house and left there stuff here for storage for up to 10 years. So my goal is getting rid of it, giving it back, or putting it in the basement. So we can finally make this "our" home. Oh and this week I am organizing this and that. Like throwing away spices over 6 months, putting away winter clothes, and mopping all of my wood floors. Lots to do for me. My spring cleaning will probably keep going through out all of spring lol.

We have a lot of things in our house that belong to my mother from my grandma's house and I would love to get them out of my house, but I don't feel right sending the things to her house because her house is cluttered from having so many people living there.

I've made a start on my spring cleaning and managed to clear the spare bedroom of clutter. I'd like to be able to clear the main bedroom next and sort out some of the clothes in my wardrobe too. My house is an on-going clearance at the moment though, there is always more to clear and tidy.

Your house and my house too. It seems that no matter how hard I work at getting the house clean, I really can't tell where the progress has been made. However, I am trying to take a lot of ownership in my house and that is the reason that I'm determined to make the house look nice and presentable.

OH! You're so organized. If I get the top of the fridge washed off before my son visits in June I'll be doing good. Oh, wait I have to clean out the spare room so they'll have a place to sleep too. Bummer! If I don't get the fridge cleaned it's ok, 'cause he's tall enough he doesn't have to have a ladder or chair to reach it. I'll just put him to work. Really I don't do spring cleaning any more. When I'm able or when it gets so cluttered I can't stand it any more I will clean one room a week top to bottom, but I usually run out of steam before I get it all done.

I would definitely not go to the extent of saying that I am organized, because I am honestly far from it. The thing is, I want to be proud of what I have and that is the reason that I'm making a very conscious effort to get everything cleaned up.

We're in the process of drywalling the living room so everything is a muddy, dusty mess - I am ITCHING to give everything a good clean! We took the carpet out of the living room, hallway and staircase before we started so at least the dust can just be vacuuming and mopped up without too much of a problem. I've started trying to get the basement organized and I'm trying to donate/throw out as much stuff as I can before it gets nice out and I just want to be in the yard. Hopefully this weekend the sanding will be done and I can really start with the spring cleaning, but it's kinda hard to prioritize it when we're in the middle of renovations!

You are definitely right about that. We've done a lot of renovations in our house since we bought it and I am very happy with the results, but it is definitely a mess while you are going through the process.

hell0! yes, I have started with it but i am not in a rush so that's why I am doing it slowly and have made my list with all the things that must be done and all the place that I must clean the most, because they are not cleaned out since years :)

Luckily we don't have places in our house that haven't been cleaned out in years, but a big part of the reason for that is because of the fact that we've only lived here for a full year now. We moved in last year during my daughter's spring break and now we are back at spring break again.

I've been decluttering a little at a time. Or maybe a lot at a time! I took a whole trunkful of things to a charity a couple of days ago and already have a few more things to get rid of. I'm going to do a little painting and then need to wash windows. It's hard to find enough time to do it all because I want to be out getting the garden ready, too.

It is difficult to find the time to get everything done. However, I suppose it is a necessary evil.

Well, here in India summer is already breathing down our neck and spring was here and gone by early March so I’ve kind of finished off with my spring cleaning around that time. What overwhelms me about spring cleaning is mostly the piles of woolens that I have to wash, fold and then store away. Being born and brought up in summer climate and loving summer, I am naturally disinclined towards woolens and winter and the laziness it brings with it so you can well imagine the amount of household cleaning that’s accumulated over two months. I am done with most of it…cleaning the kitchen inside out, dusting out the cupboards, sunning the clothes and generally cleaning the house….only thing left to be done is stashing away the pile of washed woolens lying in a heap. Its been weeks now but I just cant seem to find enough time to carry them all and arrange them into their places inside the cupboard…lazy me, I guess LOL

Yes, the seasonal laundry that you have to do is an overwhelming task. But, it is something that is on my to do list.

for me it is just hard for me to keep up with the day to day stuff but every couple of months we do a major cleaning (like washing floors, carpets etc.) right now i am so busy with planning a baby shower that the outside spring cleaning will have to wait.

I agree that it is difficult to keep up with the regular day to day stuff. But, I really am trying to make that different. For example, right now I am only on here taking a break and then I am going to run the carpet shampooer for a little bit.

Even though I just moved into my house 3 weeks ago, there was still spring cleaning to do. One of the first things I did was clean the windows, still have a couple to do, I love having my curtains/blinds open on sunny days, I can't stand looking through dirt lol. Since I'm just getting moved in and my stuff has been packed away in storage, there really isn't any major spring cleaning to do. The other main thing to do is getting more work done in the yard, fertilize it and plant some flowers in the flowerbeds.

I know what you mean, there is always something. Of course, like I said my things had been boxed and in storage, so when I started unpacking it was like Christmas lol, had forgotten some of the stuff I had packed away. I usually find that the first way I arrange things in a new place, isn't how it gets left, I end up moving it around to get it just how I like it.

It would really help our house out a lot if my mother could figure out a way to magically expand hers. We've got boxes in our house that are from my grandmother's house that we can't use and she doesn't have room for right now.

It is absolutely amazing to think about the kind of cleaning that you have to do when you first move. We've been in our house for a year now, and there is still move-in cleaning/organization that needs to be done.

Hi Doran. I'll be doing my spring cleaning tomorrow. Focus would be my room and my computer table. For my room, I'll do some sweeping and mopping of the floor, change my bedsheet and pillow cases, clean up my closet, bookshelves and the lights/electric fans. I might also need to call someone to do some maintenance cleaning on my airconditioner. After that, I'll sort my files on my computer tables, the dvds, cd's and other stuff that are all piled up here. I like doing this. It's meditating. LOL.

I wish that I was the kind of person that found cleaning to be something relaxing, but that has never been who I am. Maybe one day I will be able to be that way, but it hasn't happened yet.

In a certain sense I am ready for summer, but in another sense, not so much. The reason for this is that I can't imagine having my daughter at home all day every day after the school year has come to an end.

Ho ho ho . . . I had to chuckle when I read "Spring Cleaning" - not so much the Spring part - but the cleaning - hee hee!! This has been an ongoing project for us since a couple Springs ago! I look at this "stuff" and it's not junk . . . we just have too much stuff and not enough storage space as we don't have a big place. Well, now that things are a bit easier (only a bit), I'm just starting to get rid of the extra things that we really truly don't need. First, because we are tight on moola, I'm trying to sell off a few of our things - even if for a few bucks. Getting some cash motivates me to sell more things. And the rest I know I can get rid of via Craigslist or Freecyle or just taking it somewhere (which would be faster). I just want to make our place look more presentable if anything . . . so I can feel good (comfortable) when someone comes over or my daughter can have playdates here without worrying about kids tripping over things. Time frame? By next week would be nice (but ahhhhh, I know it's not going to happen!!). Happy Spring cleaning!

You are right about selling off the stuff that you don't need. We have far too much of that ourselves and for that reason I'm hoping to have a big yard sale this year. I normally will take the money that I make in a yard sale and reinvest it in summer clothing for the children. Then, what I don't want to bring back in the house I will donate to charity just so it doesn't clutter the house again.

I will start mine the second weekend in April. My husband and I are both in school right now and I am almost done with mine. I finish April 9th. I cannot wait to start Spring cleaning. I have a lot of things to go through that are in the shed. I also need to go through the closets, clean the bathrooms, the kitchen, the dining room, the living room, the computer room and the bedroom. If the snow keeps on melting like it has been I hope by the middle of the month (April) I can start planting.

I am ready to start planting as well. It is getting progressively warmer here now, but it still isn't quite time to get that started yet. I'm hoping that I will be able to get some stuff planted soon.

I really haven't started my Spring cleaning yet but I really do want to get around to it. I cleaned some things out of my grandparents house this past weekend but at my apartment on the other hand, I haven't really done much. I hope I can get around to it soon enough. I'm sure there are so many things I could stand to get rid of that we have yet gotten rid of.

I know that there are going to be a lot of things that we can stand to get rid of when I get to the upstairs. I swear, it is a disaster up there, but in the mean time, I'm happy with the fact that I'm making progress with getting the house in a presentable fashion.

My room certainly needs a good tidy/clear out. I keep putting it off but hope to get it done with soon because I need to clear space by my desk as I hope to start a distance learning course in criminology soon.

I don't exactly know why it is, but it does seem like at times it is so easy to just continually put things off for later. I've done my share of that, but now I'm just tired of the mess and clutter.

hi dorannmwin oh boy do I have it made, the care givers come in here and make our beds, change the linen several times a week, vacumn every day, and clean our bathroom, and we just sit here, well reallY I am typing while my roomie spends most of her time lying around and listening to music. But he he, I even get my clothes washed and folded and all for me, life of leisure and with out mylot it would be plain boredom. Mylot is my lifeline to the outer world. At least we have again got a driver so we can go shopping once a week. I am going out with my best friend when she comes here from work. so no more spring house cleaning but I have done my share when we had our own apartment.

Don't I wish that there was someone that would come into my house and clean it for me, but that isn't reality considering I'm only going to be 30 in a few short weeks (not looking forward to my birthday either, but I'll survive). It was hilarious the other day when I asked my daughter to help me straighten up the other day and she informed me that she wasn't going to clean when she grows up. She is going to make her husband and kids do it, she said. I had to laugh and point out to her the mess in our house and say, "See how far waiting on your husband and kids gets you."

Started working on some spring cleaning but haven't gotten very far. My plan is to gather a bunch of stuff that just needs to go away for a church yard sale in a couple of weeks. Then the clothes that I no longer wear are going to the goodwill. Once I get rid of the "junk" we no longer use around the house, the house will be pretty clean. I am going to borrow my sisters carpet/furniture cleaner and try to get out some small stains my boys have left me but other than that I don't worry about a little dust here and there. I will get it on the next trip through with the dust rag.

We bought our own carpet cleaner last year, and I have to say that thing has been the best investment that I've ever made. I try to shampoo our carpet on a regular basis because with three pets, two children of my own and two nieces that I babysit, it is impossible to keep the carpet clean.
