New polls numbers came out on congress...and its is not pretty. For the past 8 years they have had approval ratings in the 25-20% range. Well now: 50% off all the polled thought most the dems and repubs politicans in congress were unethical (both parties). 1/2 the country thinks they are crooks. Only 1/3 thought that members of congress were doing their jobs properly. only 11% thought favorably about Pelosi and the job she has done as speaker of the house. only 8% thought favorably about Reid and the job he has done. It it also asked: If there were a single line on the ballot that would let you vote out every single member of Congress - including your own representative - would you do it? Half of the people surveyed say "yes." This poll was taken BEFORE the healthcare final vote. But with these kinds of numbers it is not just a "republican" thing. It means a lot of people in all the different parties are not happy with congress. Tell me what you think.

And I would vote yes too. I think it is interesting question with the words including your own representative. It always seems to me at lest that everyone loathes someone else's representative, but has no problem with their own. Take Pelosi and Reid for instance. Pelosi has an 11% favorability but will win her district hands down. I would be shocked if her numbers in her district fall below 75%. Reid on the other hand might lose but he is not going to lose by only getting 8% of the vote. I would be shocked if he got below 45% of the vote from his state.

Thank you for bringing this up. A previous discussion asked who are these Americans against this? The poster did not believe that so many people were against it. I pointed out that entire groups of people are against it. Independents which is truly who swings the vote are against it. Anytime Congress proposes something that exempts them, should give pause.

That doesn't surprise me in the least. Heck, according to the Rasmussen Reports nearly half the people in this country, 45%, believe that randomly choosing names from a phonebook would produce a better congress than the one we have right now. I actually agree with that myself as a randomly selected group would not be as beholden to those that financed the campaigns of our current members of congress. http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/general_politics/january_2010/45_say_random_group_from_phone_book_better_than_current_congress
