I'm really tired of politics!

All I'm hearing are negatives and hate-mongering. I know that is because those are the louder voices and not necessarily because there are more negatives than in the past. It is so easy to come up with why something won't work without exerting the energy to discover solutions or to look at what is working. So much black and white, all or nothing responses remind me of addicts' thinking. Let's all just take a deep breath and find some objectivity! What do you think, can we do that?

I would love to see that happen. I do agree with Lil that this country is very divided right now. It's sad but I don't anticipate that changing much in the near future. Too much hate and fear was generated before the election and it's effects will be with us for a while because the man a whole bunch of folks were encouraged to hate and fear is now in charge.

I do feel sad for my nation that we have come to this kind of behavior. It astonishes me that leaders fuel the fires of hate and fear.

It was very irresponsible indeed to fuel fires that had no way of being extinguished if the "evil" side won the election. I've voted many times in my life and I've never experienced such a hate filled campaign nor the continuation of the promotion of hatred and fear that followed. Makes me sad, too.

I would say it gets worse with each election. I heard for years that Bush "stole" the election and that he was not really the president. I heard a lot of harsh things about Bush said (I even said a few myself). And thing got nasty during the Bush years when he and his admin pretty well called ANYONE who did not agree with him "unamerican". That one got thrown around a lot here on mylot. Disagree with something Bush said or did? Someone would call you "unamerican". So I would say this has been building for a while and getting worse and worse. Now it is getting to a boiling point. Hopefully it simmers down soon. I think we would have had issues with it if McCain would have won. Obama and the dems called him "another Bush" so often that a lot of people were scared of him. There was a lot of fear mongering on both sides.

I agree tempers are running high right now. Shame. Personally I like to come to this section because usually we discuss issues and discuss solutions. But we have a very polarized nation right now. One side wants things to run one way...the other side wants things done a different way...both convienced only their side is right and the other side is completely wrong. It is a battle of wills. Not a lot of compromise. Give it a few days...let things calm down.

Hope you are right that a few days will see folks cooling down. I'm not convinced that people are really that far apart in their ideas but they are so emotionally invested in "winning" or whatever that they can't see what they have in common!

politics is like a football game. It is all about winning now. Not compromise...not getting things done. It is all about one side winning and one side loosing. Sad.

yeah one side has gotten a "win" and the other side fills that they didn't get a say in it.(which maybe true) I think it will calm down after a little bit because something else will distract them from this issue and they will move on to another issue like gays in the military or something like it. :) Just give it time and we will get some good debates rolling through again. This is just a fresh issue that has had some form of conclusion placed on it like laws don't/can't change.

It's interesting that people are so distressed by this bill and the war was a really tame discussion comparatively.

Keep it real. I was told people don't keep it real enough. Keeping it real is the only solution. Remember how to keep it real. Keep it real I was told. Are you keeping it real?

how does it define keeping it real from just simple political agenda? no one i believe can't determine that msot specially if it's aired by a bias network or media. that's the worst part if media is part of such scandals, and conspiracies.

Its common since elections is just around the corner. That's how they do politics in our country. They think ruining the reputation of one candidate will gain them votes. Even if they are portraying that they want the public will know about the oppossing candidate bad habits or attitudes. Sometimes, I could see a monster coatrd with sheephair. I guess it will not end up and it will continue until the next election.

i don't think its possible to really be objective when really what people are doing is clamoring for their own ideals, which are often in contradiction to the ideals of others. that is how most governments are run in one way or another. if its right or wrong we can argue on it all day long, but its reality. i don't like how everyone always thinks they're right and no one looks for a real honest solution that isnt selfish, but i've come to accept it. thats probably why i stay away from most discussions.

lmao hahahaha. Wouldn't that be nice. I believe that election years are a little like child birth. It is VERY painful at the time, but we tend to forget some of it. The difference is, child birth, you decide it was well worth the pain! It is also our massive amount of information and way to get it!

Simple. Ignore. The more you response or feel affected the harder for you. That's politics. Its like a game. Its only hurt us or disorient us if we listen to them. Focus is the key. The more we like to fight back the more we loss our energy. Just try to focus on your own strategy. Active something that other will appreciate. Sooner they will just get tired. And in the end you won.

Thats politics ;) most of the time when we talk about politics its not even bout whats right or whats wrong. When politics is involve they just talk bout the numbers. whose the majority and whose not . If you dont have the numbers basically you wont be able to make the your own decision. When implementing something even if your thinking about the greater good if you dont have the number to back you up you wont get approved. Lastly when you talk abou politics you should be prepared to tackle bout dirty tactics because in politics they never ran out of that kind of stuff ;)
