Reporting Abuse or rating members

Hi allknowing, Choosing to report or rating certain mylot user is totally unacceptable. Why we want to be so selective on this? I actually do not know when to use the ! sign because if I do not like the discussion, I just leave it there. But I use the ! to mark any double posts. I think it is important to do it so the admin can deleted one of the post as soon as possible. This is to avoid other mylotter post to it and their response being deleted. I rate all the discussion and the tread that I am involve in no matter who's post is it. If I started the discussion then I would rate everybody (posts) in it. This is to show that I appreciate their ideas and time in my discussions. If I am the responder, I would rate every single post in my tread.

If we all used the rating and reporting system in the correct way then we would all benefit from it too. If we rate others in the same way that we hope that they will rate us instead of using it as a popularity contest then things might be different. Sadly not enough users read the FAQs and therefore have no idea how it should be used. When reporting if we choose to report someone just because we dislike them this does not benefit anyone either. If we report and the post that we are reporting is not a violation then it will not be deleted. If we all used myLot in the way that we described in the FAQs then there would be less complaints, a lot more happier Lotters and less work for admins too - but is this ever going to happen I wonder?

I positive rate most discussions and responses I read. I do not use the negative rating and would prefer to see it abandoned or at least with the necessity to state a reason (as with the report button). I think the negative button is too often misused. I have only reported one response, which was an extremely vivid and gory account of how someone would kill another. It was removed almost as soon as I reported it. If I came across a discussion which obviously broke the guidelines, I would tell the poster and report it.

I do rate users when I respond to discussions, or they respond to mine. I do report whenever necessary. Happily, I haven't had to do that to much since I have been here. I will take the initiative though when I see someone being rude, mean or just plain being obnoxious. It is our responsibility as users to do our part that when we see abuse to reprt it, as the admins don't catch everything, so we need to helpe them out whenever we see abuse. I do rate positive those that respond or comment, as we are all trying to help each other out here, and that is one way of doing it. There will be times though that some will rate others negative, as they don't like it when others disagree with them. It isn't fair but it happens,and mylot says we aren't supposed to rate others negative for disagreeing. this is just to good a place to be to get upset about trivial matters like our ratings.
