Hi grecy! Actually I have just been informed that there was an earthquake a few minutes ago in the Philippines, and I was bit anxious that I was talking with someone in my YM and suddenly stop a while and when i asked about where was he, said that there was an earthquake happened so they have to leave the premises a while. And it happened twice and the second time it makes me nervous since he was not able to answer my pm bit longer and still keep joking after that, so annoying..Hope everything is fine there now and pray for safety of everyone! Stay safe guys and God bless everyone!

i have experience great earthquakes before. the strongest and the last time that i can remember was when the Mt. Pinatubo erupted in 1991, am i sure of the year? i was in the 11th floor of the dbp building in makati. that was too scary experience of ours. but this lately, it wasn't felt here in cebu. so how are you doing now after the quake? hope you are all fine there.

We are okay now, but I felt dizziness and I was really afraid. The last EArthquake that made a mark on me was on July 16, 1990. the places got affected were Baguio and Cabanatuan. There were many casualties during that time, there were many number of deaths. It was really really strong of 7.9 as far as I remember. So you are in Makati before?

That was about 1991 the Mt. Pinatubo Eruption. I remember that day it was just 9am in the morning but the Sky was so dark like 7pm in the evening.

now i remember well, my former wife was still pregnant at that time, while i was still working in manila and assigned with the project in makati. there were blackouts and tremendous traffic jam happened then. i reached home in bulacan if i can remember, four hours from makati. it wasn't really that a great effect in manila or any other parts of the country. but when our baby was already born, i remember we were reached by the ash falls a month or two after that quake.

It was strong here in our area, Pasay, and I heard on the news that the epicenter was on Mindoro with a magnitude of 6. It was the third strong Earthquake I felt since 1990 the second one was last 2005.

When this happened yesterday, I was in a cab on my way to my bank. One thing I noticed was the intense heat. When I got to my bank, my friend informed me that there was an earthquake and I also noticed that the bank tellers were quite unnerved. They said that it was strong and lasted for about a minute. But so far, no one I know of has been hurt so I am thankful. I can share my earthquake experience, the strong one that destroyed Baguio in the 90's. We were thankful because we did not have classes on that day and my brothers' and I were just at home. I remember the strong shaking as if the whole house was about to collapse and we were on the second floor. But thankfully, my family was also unharmed then. The key to these type of disasters is not to panic. My brother who is based in the US has asked me to make a emergency kit bag that I can pick up in case of another stronger and much devastating earthquake.

Too good you did you are not aware because you were riding in a cab. I also experienced the strong Earthquake that destroyed Baguio and Cabanatuan too. That was very frightening. What will be inside the emergency kit bag? the medicine?

Where I live, the big worry is tornados, not earthquakes. How is everything where you live right now?

Everyone is fine right now, thanks for asking . I don't like tornados also. I am afraid to see a very angry wind.

Hi grecychunny26! We had strong quakes here in Japan every year. After the Great Hanshin earthquake in 1995, we are more aware and prepared for this type of natural disaster. Be careful, there might be aftershocks. Happy mylotting!

EArthquake is just normal in Japan? do you know the reason? every year it happened, so that is why you both got used to it. Hope you still care.
• Japan
25 Mar 10
As a foreigner here in Japan,I found it weird when people treats earthquake here as a normal thing. I dont even see them in a panic mode. They feel the intensity but it doesn´t matter at all. Right now, Im used to it. Imagine for a year, I cant count how many earthquakes I have felt here because there are lots to count!

I hope your husband listen to you. Find a regular house, just imagine how can they get out of the building during Earthquake, they will use Stair? dangerous, they will use elevator? more dangerous.

Really?? what time it happened? how strong it is? my parents are there..I hope it don't make huge damage like that typhoon last year. I know there are still tons of people who aren't recovered yet of that disaster..I do had experienced when I was 5 year old way back 1970..ughhhh!! it really shaked our house just like we are a pop corn inside..everything turn upside down and after that I got severe headache..which part of Manila it happened?
• Philippines
26 Mar 10
The earthquake is intensity 6.1. It was strong but did not happen for longer hours, just a couple of minutes only. the earthquake was strong in Manila and in MIndoro. i hope your parents are fine, actually no casualties reported that is why Filipino here are so thankful. That is the earthquake I do not wished to experience, the shaking like popcorn, that is really frightening. I will get a heart attack.

Wow your so fast in posting it in here. I also felt it and I also got nervous since it was really long shaking and we were on the 5th floor of the building. I think that if that went longer everybody is about to panic. But then, I think it stopped so everybody went back to normal again. I felt and saw it when I saw the water in my jug suddenly shaked from left to right and it was really strong. I also saw that the things on my table was shaking as well. It was really a dizzying experience but thank God it did not last that really long.

Hi grecy, Earth quake is a natural calamity and nobody can prevent it, it is true. I hope the people in your place are safe and nothing happened badly. We felt the earth quake slightly when it devastated the state of Gujarat (India) and again felt when it happened in Pakistan and Kashmir. But it was minor in our place so there was no loss of any lives or things. The people in these places still to face difficulties to get a normal life and in the beginning government has done many things. It is not sure that everybody (mean the right people) got the helps from government. I really pray to GOD that, take care of everybody in the world.
• Philippines
25 Mar 10
That is good of you Sreekala to pray to God to take care of everybody in the world. That is what we really needed. To re unite and pray. Sometimes its bad that we only remember God when times like this.

I felt it alright. I was in the office, and it was on the 12th floor. the first time I felt it, I looked at my mirror to check if it's moving, but the swaying was just too strong, and then I looked at another officemate and she asked if there's an earthquake and I told her, I think it is an earthquake. After that everybody got quiet cause it just won't stop. I was dizzy after the earthquake and I felt like it was still swaying even if it's really not.

I believe everyone was became dizzy after the Earthquake. And I experienced migraine last night because of that.
• Philippines
25 Mar 10
I felt that one too. One of our helpers said the chandelier was shaking so I looked at it and paused for a while. I was cleaning our dogs who just gave pups two weeks ago. I looked at the door and the mirror started to shake so I guess something is really happening. We just stayed on our places and wait for it to pass. The really unforgettable moment that I experienced earthquake was when i was young. It was dark already maybe 11PM or 1AM.. The mirror in front of me started to shake. We were sleeping in a comforter back then and book shelves were located on our foot area. I was trembling back then,,, up to now, I have the same feelings. Even though nothing serious happened, I always shiver when earthquake strikes.

It always makes us scared when their is a movement of land. the intensity is 6.1. they said it can compare with what had happened in Chile but I believe Earthquake happened in Chile was more longer hours compare to us that did not take 2 minutes.
