Do you have any happy experience when people just called on your nickname?

Most of the time,people hated to be called by their nick anme but some names that people just enjoyed it very much when people aclled on them with that name.I still remember when I first came back to Hong Kong from Canada,I have a funny feeling on a name.Almost everywhere I 've been on the street or the hopsital or any where else.People just loved to called other female "pretty girl".Even to an old lady or somebody looked so ugly,they will keep calling people like that.Do they mean it?I don't think so.Not at all,people called other people like that just as a n habit or maybe they have something to ask for (from that lady).So once awhile,I will keep looking around and wonder where their calling was all about.Why?Because I really didn't see any pretty girl in front of my eyes.My natural response would be "where?" or "Do we have one in here?"Anyway,maybe you have something more interesting thst you want to share with us.It's your turn now!

Yeah, I like being called by my nickname! My first name is Gomer, while my nickname is Gom. I like it. You know, it's like a domain name in internet marketing. The shorter it is, the better! To illustrate it, www(dot)gom(dot)com is better remembered than www(dot)gomermagtibay(dot)com

at work we called our client by their last name like mr. smith or etc. but if just my friends the we call them by their nick name, but for those that i just meet or im not that close, i call them based on their name besides they will be the one to tell you what they want to be called. i dont called someone im not close or i just meet with their nickname or i will ask their permission first if its alright to call them for example her name is amelia if its alright to call her just amy for short if they agree then thats the only time i will call them amy if not then just amelia.
