Pardon my French Bin Laden threatens to harm Americans if self-confessed Sept. 11 attacker Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is put to death. Al Qaeda leader Usama bin Laden threatened in a new audio recording released Thursday to kill any captured Americans if the U.S. executes the accused mastermind of the Sept.11 attacks or any other Al Qaeda suspects. The U.S. is still considering whether to put Khalid Sheik Mohammed and four of his fellow plotters on military tribunal for their role in the Sept. 11 attacks. The Obama administration is also looking into recommendations for civilian trials, and is expected to announce a decision soon. http://www.foxnews.com/world/2010/03/25/bin-laden-americans-die-alleged-mastermind-executed/?test=latestnews so this is like an eye for an eye for an eye? Good golly when does this stop? "It's the height of absurdity for anyone associated with Al Qaeda to even suggest that now, at long last, they're going to start treating captives badly. They may have forgotten Danny Pearl and all the others they've slaughtered, but we haven't," a U.S. counterterrorism official said in response to the newest message. ya think? They have been s accommodating! "If this is bin Laden and he wants to weigh in on legal proceedings involving 9/11 conspirators, I challenge him to show up in court to make his case. Frankly, that's about all the comment this deserves." I wouldnt be at all surprised if he does. Do you think we should even CONSIDER this?

So he's going to kill any captured Americans? And what does he call what he's been doing thus far? I can't wait until we catch him... I hope we don't have to bother with an Obama decision on whether to try him in one of our courts or by military tribunal. I just want enough evidence to prove its Bin Laden's body beneath the pile of rocks and that will be good enough for me.

Bin Laden is threatening American lives? How is this different from anything he's ever done? Threats, like terrorism, are meant to strike fear into our hearts so we will roll over and do just what they want us to do. In this case, they want us all to become Muslim and institute a theocracy worldwide. Anyone who doesn't want this must realize that we have no alternative but to laugh in his face. A bully never stops bullying through negotiations. You defeat him or you put up with him, those are your choices. I say that we must defeat the terrorists bullies, because our lives and our way of life is at stake.

It seems we all agree that we should not answer Bin Ladens demand. That is a relief but I am worried about the civilians that will be embroiled in this case (jurors). Another good reason that this should have been a military issue.

Bin Laden won't show up in court. But it would be intersting to see if he did. He wuold not last 20 seconds. This is why we don't need to have these things in a public court. It really endangers the population of that town/city/ state etc.. Also no jury trial. Can you imagine what kind of danger the jury members and their families would be in? They would be a target for the rest of their lives if they convicted him. They have been savage to anyone they capture...that won't stop now. They will continue to execute any american they find..then put it online for all to see. We don't negociate with terrorist. We should not start now.

They have been torturing and killing captured Americans since day 1. This threat is not something new, it is something that has continually gone on. There is no way on Earth that we should negotiate with Bin Laden and let him have the upper hand. Terrorists need to be punished for their actions. We should not avoid this simply due to a threat that is already being carried out. Bin Laden needs to be captured and executed. There should not even be a consideration of cooperating with him. I do agree that the jurors, judge, and all those in the courthouse during the trial and anyone having anything to do with a conviction would be constantly looking over their shoulder and could be in danger if they convict. However, I would hope that this would not scare people into making the wrong decision and not convicting these terrorists.

I agree, the jurors may have to have witness protection when done. That is scary. These terrorrists are very resourceful!

I heard this on the news earlier. Don't they behead most captured anyway? Now he wants to keep them for a bargaining chip? I'm not surprised bin Laden would try to bargain, though. Say what you will about our president, like him or not, but he's not exactly "the decider" when it comes to terrorists. He's the "think on it" guy to see how the polls and his base will treat his decision. And a thought just struck me and I honestly laughed at loud and swallowed cherry Coke Zero down the wrong hole! When it comes to terrorist rights, progressives cite our Constitution and want it actually extended. When it comes to an overreaching federal government in healthcare, they want it tossed aside. Not related, I know. Just saying!

great observation! I think terrorists - once proven to be, should be shown no mercy
