California blazing the trail of State's rights....again

United States

When voters go to the polls this November...they may have another state's rights issue on their hands. The voters of the state will be votin on wether or not to legalized recreational use of marijuana for adults. Federal law outlaws the drug. The feds have backed off and stopped enforcing the law in the states where using it for medical purposes is legal. Will the feds back down and let California make this law that legalizes pot? Or will they fight it? Several other states currently also have legislation in various stages of the process...that would legalize pot for recreational use by adults. Seems states all over this country are asserting their right to make their own laws. This could get interesting. Tell what you think.

I think every state should be free to make up it's own mind about this so I'm glad California is taking this step. From my own personal perspective, I have too many friends who are brain damaged from smoking p0t on a regular basis for the past 30 years to support the recreational use of itl

I have never smoked it..and probly never will (unless a doctor tells me I need it). But I support each state's right to make the decision to make it legal for themselves.

X I would believe that if brain damage over that amount of time came from smoking pot it is because of the lacing that the dealers put in it. Pot has been laced with everything under the sun, including embalming fluid. I think it all has to do with other chemicals mixed with pot.

I think it will be interesting. I also think that due to the financial problems of this state, this might be the best thing for them.

Lil just last year we in Massachusetts went through the vote. What it does it make it not a criminal charge, but that doesnt mean you wont get a fine for it. Anything under I think an ounce is considered personal use. Or maybe it is a half an ounce. They do not sell it in the stores to be able to tax it.

I think this is a great idea. The state is already bringing in millions in tax dollars for the state, and that is with a very small portion of the state paying taxes on the pot they smoke. If they could legalize pot in the entire state, then they could come closer to meeting their obligations. I think that legalizing pot would be a great thing for this country, it would be a huge revenue boost to the states, and the federal government. People are already doing it, might as well regulate it, and tax it.
