i started up allergy shots about 6 months ago but i couldnt start them up as fast as they wanted (3x a week) so i would at best do 1-2x a week because of the traveling so far to get them. im just wondering HOW LONG is it gonna take? if i had been on schedule they said i would see results in 6 months and i know i have been having less sinus infections this winter but the pain of the shots (im at the last level now) is driving me crazy since i have to stay away from my pets for 2 full days do people usually end up taking these for years or just like a year or so? i cant imagine years of this but its important to get off some meds i have to take because of all my allergies and asthma issues.. anyone had them and can give me an idea of how long they were on them total and how long till they really saw results? i see improvement here and there but as soon as i get the shot im miserable!!

You might not want to hear this but my youngest son was getting allergy shots for five years. His started out at twice a week, then eventually went down to once a week, then once every two weeks but it took five years before he was finished with them. But, seeing how his health improved so much, it was worth it. He wasn't thrilled with them, either, especially when he was nearing the end of one "set" since those shots were so much larger than when beginning them, but he does even better than I do now and I'm only allergic to dust while he was allergic to 13 different things. I know they're a pain (in more ways than one) but they certainly are worth it! You'll be so happy the rest of your life if you can grin and bear those shots now.

I was on them a few years while I was a teenager. They gradually step you down from 2 or 3 shots at a time 3 times a week to one shot a week or even every 2 weeks until eventually your off them. Some of the results were pretty quick, others took longer. It really depends on the person.
