Would you adopt an orphan kid from Haiti?

Every time I watch the news, and I heard something from Haiti, I get really shocked about the situation that country is going through. The last thing I learn from the news is about the children whose parents died during the earthquake, I was really shocked to see that most of them are just wondering through the streets with no adult care at all. I google that to find out more, and I got even more shocked. Sometime ago, UNICEF made an study about how many orphan children Haiti had, and they found out that the number was over 380,000. Imagine! that's a lot. After the earthquake, "there's no counting, but aid groups estimate the number in tens of thousand" (taken from the article, see below). So, that makes me really sad, I feel so powerless, I am think about the suffering all these orphans are going through. So mylotters, how about you? how do you feel about these disasters the world has faced recently?. What would you do to help Haitian orphans? would you adopt a kid if you had all the necessary conditions?

If I had all the necessary conditions I would adopt a kid from various disaster areas. Children are not expected to receive these sufferings. Unfortunately, I don't have any mature conditions at present, but I will do these things when I can.

I don't mean to be a bad person or anything like that, but I think my country has more children I could adopt to help rather than Haiti's kids. I know we have not gone through a devastation equally as Haiti's but still, I don't think it would be good for them to just be adopted like that, you're taking them away from who they are and trying to instill your culture with them. What happens to Haiti when all their children have been distributed among countries? I think we're not helping enough if we're adopting their kids. I think we should help in educating responsible parenthood and build businesses there to create jobs and schools etc. instead of taking them away from their country.

well I see your point and I agree with you, I hadn't seen it in that way. But again, I know many of those kids just want someone to help them and to give them food and shelter.so what should Haiti government do? create lots of orphanages? I also agree with you that we as citizens of our country should start by helping our fellow country children, as in your case, here in Costa Rica, there lots of orphans kids suffering a lot.
