Clash of the Titans - Old vs New

I am looking forward to the new Clash of the Titans movie out next week. The trailer looks great and its looking like it might be a great epic movie. It reminded me of the original released in the 80's I enjoyed the original as a child and have actually bought it today at HMV and am watching it now. It was only £3 :) I wonder how many other people out there have seen the original and remember as fondly as I do? How do others feel about remakes of other movies? How do you feel about remakes in general which the cinema calendar seems thick with at the moment?

i think ive watched the original although i cant remember how it went. lol. yeah, i think the movie makers remaking old versions are doing a great job. take batman, for instance. i like how they approached it. they gave a new feel for it that viewers can grasp easily.

I completely agree about Batman, Dark Knight is one of my all time favourites. Unfortunately I can't say the same about the new Clash of the Titans

Even though it's been a few years since I've watched it I really loved the old version when I was younger. I thought the special effects were amazing and so cool at the time. I really have fond memories of the movie so I'm having some high expectations for this newer version. I know I'll be comparing the two afterwards. I guess I'm not too keen on remakes in general. I always end up comparing it to the original in some way and most of the time it comes up lacking something.

Now that I've seen both I am not happy at all with the new one.

I'm rather anxious to see the new one. I remember when I first watched the original. While it seems silly by today's standards I remember thinking " This is the most awesome thing EVER!" at the time. I hope the new one lives up to the trailers.

So i've seen the new one and was bitterly disappointed. I won't give anything away but frankly, I prefered the original, and wish i hadn't seen the new one. I had such high hopes.
