Old clothes

Most fashion conscious are into designer wear which gets outmoded and discarded. Quite often there are no takers for these clothes that go out of fashion and are invariably given away to the poor. How would you like to see a Gucci or a Fendi discarded by you being worn by an urchin on the street?

Given that I have never owned a piece of "designer" clothing in my life and I could not care less about which clothes are "in" or "out" of fashion that would never happen. I do not discard my clothing because of the style - only if it no longer fits or it wears out. If I'm no longer using the clothes why would it matter to me who is wearing them?

I think most of them should be grateful that anyone wears it I dont think they could care less who's wearing it as long as they've got the big fat cheque for their efforts. Maybe some of them should get down out of their privileged life style and make functional clothing for the people who need it to keep warm instead of pampering those who have more money than sense. How many street urchins could be clothed for the price of one designer dress. Sorry, I have no regard or respect for "fashion"

When so much of trouble is being taken by designers to have just one outfit each seeing it being worn by an urchin is not something anyone would like.Sometimes that outfit gets a signature of sorts.

I think you have to treasure your old clothes. If you given to the poor and worn it, It's good to be hospitality and someone wearing them with purpose instead on the cabinet.

Give away yes. But I would rather feel uncomfortable to see a beggar for example wearing my outfits designer or otherwise. This thinking may not be right but I just feel so.

I think it is good to be hospitable. You have more clothes so the more you share the more blessing to come. I think for me wearing my outfit by beggar is good because it's already old outfit.Giving a chance to wear by other & I'm proud of it. Also I can buy new one.

A lot of people bring their good clothes, that they don't wear anymore, to consignment shops. This means that they are not given away for free, but bought at a reduced priced so that the original owner and the consignment shop benefit. Consignment shops are a step up from stores like Goodwill or The Salvation Army because they have higher standards for the merchandise that they accept. So, it could be a co-worker or a neighbor that you see walking around wearing your old rags.

But not all countries have such facilities. And the younger siblings will not wear them nor do many like to see urchins wearing their clothes. Just a thought.

Ive never had anything by Gucci or Fendi, however when I sort out my clothes, if there are things I never wear then they do go to charity shops, did consider selling them on ebay but to be honest it all seems to much effort for me, its so much easier just to wash, bag and take them to a shop! All this online selling confuses me! This way you raise money for charity, and to be honest if I havent worn something for a while then Im not going to notice if someone walks past me wearing it as Ive probably forgotten what I gave away!
