Do you enjoy working at your job?

That may be a dumb question to some people, because realistically nobody "enjoys" to work. That's why we get paid right? Well I work at this winery and I'm movin on up to be a cocktail waitress, and I am excited! Even though I know there is a stressful side to it, of course, I feel like once I get the hang of it, it'll be really fun! The only thing is that I have to know all sorts of stuff about wine so I can be ready for random questions. Is anybody on myLot a wine drinker? I'll save that for a new dicussion. What I'm excited about being promoted to waitress is that I'll have a way better schedule, time will go by alot faster because I'll be busy, and of course I'll make more money with tips. My boss says he really thinks I'll be good at it and my friends that are already waitresses say that I'll catch on quick and it will be easy after a few shifts. I really do enjoy my job though. I think what's key in that is your work environment and also your coworkers. All of my coworkers are really nice and funny and they help the time go by when it's slow. my work environment is gorgeous, it's a very upscale classy place, and I love it! Ive worked at alot of different jobs and the job I absolutely hated most was when I worked at this womens clothing store. All of my coworkers were bit**y towards me and I felt like they treated me like a slave. I definately hated that job, and that is the only job I've had that I actually quit. one time my manager at that horrible job physically managed me by grabbing my arm and pulling me in a different direction, and on the inside I was FURIOUS!! That is not ok. oh my gosh I will never step foot in that place ever again . Comment and share about your jobs and what you like/dislike about it pertaining to your coworkers and your work environment! Can't wait to hear your stories!!

I changed my job from financial necessity. Its not highly paid but I needed a regular wage I could count on to keep my bills paid. When I first started, I said I would stay for just 3months.... that was 2 years ago. I work on a busy hospital ward as a support worker so I attend to personal needs of patients, many of whom are incontinent, confused and immobile. It is hard, dirty work but, I have great colleagues and enjoy meeting and talking with a wide variety of people. I am not going to be promoted from this position as I'm a bit old to start training as a nurse and wouldn't want that responsibility anyway.

Hiya Wizzy, Sounds like you have settled there even though it is such a hard job. I saw enough when I was looking after my Mom as she was in and out of Hospital and have seen enough to last me a long time. Getting to meet lot´s of People must make the time there fly too although you still have to work also.

I think it's a good thing. On my view that working in the two side, the first postition to work for a living. We work for money. Course with a lot of money might be better, because simply by having a lot of money, we could do more, and spend it to meet our needs. True, our energy and our minds to make money selling. While the second is to add value over the process. When we are in a work activity will be an interaction, and may we meet with others and then place a personal relationship. They may become friends, brothers, boyfriends, or even become a candidate for wife. So congratulations and enjoy working.

I Love the jobs that I have right now. I am an Office Administrator from 8:30 to 4:30 and I work part time in a Restaraunt as a waitress some evenings and weekends. Before that I was in the bar scene for almost 6 years and I loved it. I think that it is a great job and as long as you have the head for it you will do wonderful at it. I have 3 daughters which I need to be with though so I got out of the bar thing for them. It is a great job to have and the time always flies by. The money is also wonderful depending their are always the slower nights but there is tons of cash to be made in that business. I have never really had a job that I didn't really like so I won't bother commenting on that part. Good luck with your new job and I hope that you enjoy it.

Yes tomgirl84 I enjoy my work. I work as an assistanse nurse for elderly care. Everyday I feel I do something great and valueble. I could not think of another job to do than being a helpful hand to someone in need. And when I see the happy eyes when I do something for someone that make me happy and more enjoying what I do.

Wow, those are the kind of jobs that I want. The rewarding ones that would make you feel happy at the end of the day knowing that you have helped someone, no matter how big or small your salary is.

Oh god, that manager of yours should have been sacked, Ive just started a new job, only been there a week so far so too early to tell if I will enjoy it, I have had a variety of jobs and have always tried to make the most of them, I think if you go into work everyday with the attitude of "I hate this place, I dont want to be here, Im not going to have a good day" then you wont enjoy it, unless you have probs with co-workers or bosses like you did then you can try to make any job enjoyable, or at least try to lol!

I know right!! My old manager was rediculous. That's cool that you just started a new job though I really don't like doing that. But once you understand the process and it will become easy so don't worry!!

There are days that I do. I like the creativity and the autonomy that I enjoy at work, and I enjoy many of the projects. However, there is usually one or two (or even three) very obnoxious people that I have to deal with that it takes away from my enjoyment of my job. I guess it would be like that for a lot of jobs though.

I think that if you dont enjoy your job you cant do it well. And in our years if you dont do your job well, sooner or later you have to stop it and you stay unemployment.

Ugh! Your manager did that?! That's horrible! I am glad that you finally found your new job where you are happy! I thought I was the only one who couldn't take her job anymore and resigned. My first job was working as a party planner/service crew for a fast-food restaurant. I honestly didn't like that place for many reasons. I never really got along with my coworkers because many of them were very foul-mouthed and I just thought that they had different interests than mine. They loved talking about other people behind their backs, even our fellow coworkers they stab in the back like that. One of the managers was foul-mouthed as well, and he would always yell like crazy it was very stressful. One day, I had a very red round rash in my neck that only started to appear when I worked there. It was so big and obvious. Until my friend told me that one of my coworkers told her friend who was a former worker there that I had a kiss mark on my neck! Heck, I am not even that kind of girl in the first place. I had to cover the red patch up with makeup so it wouldn't leave them a dirty impression again. From that day, those red, ugly rashes started to multiply and spread all over my underarms. But of course, the one in my neck was the only visible so many of them thought instantly that it was a kiss mark. The things that I liked were the head manager (she was so sweet and she loved kidding around with me), interacting with the party guests, and the salary (although it wasn't that big that I could afford to buy a new cellphone). The security guards were nice as well. Other than that it was like hell. Honestly, I got a bit traumatized after that.

I used to enjoy my work 6 months back and started thinking other way when I did not get my area of interest work. Now after a long thought process I came to a conclusion of leaving my current company and move on to get the work I want to do. I will be joining a new company in april and yes will be doing the work I want to do. I simply feel that your interest and the work you do should have relation and that makes it easy for you to get going. Also, you are more productive when working in interested area.

I do enjoy working rather than being a useless mammal at home. However. I really thank God when I ended my contract in my previous work. The compensation was good, as well as the nature of the work. But, the working environment was like a living hell. People in there were pulling one another down, below the belt gossips were rampant, superiors were fault finders, freedom were restricted and so on. I don't care if I became a bystander for months. The important is that I get rid of that place which is like a nightmare and I have a much healthy work environment right now. Thanks Ms.A.
