What are few more good plants I could put in my vegetable garden. I want a few more I have tomatoes and peppers and some corn and beans. What else can i put in that does not grow on a vine across the ground like squash.

I know what you mean about not wanting a lot of vining stuff. A couple years back I planted my corn and my pumpkins in the same hills. Boy, I had a bumper crop of both. For the past 2 years my one daughter did the same thing in her garden and she also had a great crop of both (enough corn for the winter too, and pumpkins enough so the whole family had them.) This saved a whole lot of space, and it was amazing too because the pumpkin vines kept the corn's soil moist and it didn't have as many weeds to contend with. Picking the corn was a little harder, but not so much that it prevents us from doing it that way.
Also, with beans and a lot of other plants, I get the kind that are called pole beans, etc. That way I can take 3 taller stakes and grow them up instead of taking up a lot of ground space. Most packets of seeds, or plants in containers, will say if it's a pole variety or a bush variety. My gardening area is much smaller now that I'm older, so I usually go with the pole types to both save space, and to make it easier for me to pick without having to bend as much.
