Best Hiking Experience

My best hiking experience was with a friend from Japan. We hiked the Haleakala crater however we went off trial and hike the inside crater wall to the top. To say the least, it was a difficult hike due to the fact that the crater wall was mostly loose cinder. We slid a lot. At times, it looked like we may need to sleep overnight on the crater wall. Finally, we made it to the top of the crater and was rewarded with a star burst sun on the western horizon. To date, it was the most beautiful sight I have ever seen. At the horizon, you saw a thin strip of daylight and the rest of it was dark blue to black. I would like to hear of your best hiking experience. Maybe, someday I could go on one of your hikes!
