I'm planning on going on a short vacation later this summer. I will go for about 5 days total. I'm not sure where I want to go but it needs to be warm and sunny. I was thinking about going on a cruise to the Carribean or Aruba area. Have you ever been on a cruise? Is it a good idea or ??

Sunset in Aruba - A picture taken on my last vacations in Aruba in September 2008. The climate is so wonderful that it is comfortable day and night.
I have been several times to Aruba and it´s a paradise. The beaches are clean, the sea too. The weather is just right: it´s warm but not hot and humid enough as to caress your skin. The people are very nice and helpful. I have been at several places at the Caribbean and I would say Aruba is my favorite for a stay of 5 to 7 days. If you go for more time, maybe you should pick a place with a big city nearby. But this is THE place to rest.

Ah....I love ARUBA too!! I have been several times and it's just as special each time. That might be a great idea to combine the cruise which would be new with a certain favorite! Thanks for sharing!

I would love to go on a cruise. I have a couple of friends that go twice a year. They always have a great time and have wonderful pictures. I was worried about motion sickness but my friend told me that a bottle of Dramamine takes care of that. She told me the only time she really needed it was when she was in her room.

Motion Sickness and I are old friends! I have that issue with boats and planes so bonine and I are well acquainted. Dramamine works quite well too but makes me very sleepy. And I don't want to be groggy on vacation! And with the ships being so large that helps alot too. There are some amazing deals right now so it's a very strong option. I haven't been away on vacation in over 3 years so I really really want it to be fun. Thanks for sharing!! Take care and be well!

tallygirl09 why not come down to sunny California and NewPort beach as lots of people do vacation here on the pacific and enjoy the ocean and the seals, the pelicans and eat chocolate covered frozen bananas and eat at charlies chili, to me thats a lot of fun, go surfing, stay at one of themany small seaside hotels., i live about ten miles from there we u sed to go to the beach a lot.while there you can viist Balboa and lido isle where the most monied millionaires live.its a fun place for sure. To me it would be more fun than a cruise and not as expensive either. just one suggestion of course. he he.

California is quite beautiful but I only have a few days. I live on the east coast so that's why I was thinking about a carribean cruise since I could be at the ship's port in just a few hours. I hate long airline flights and direct flights are so expensive these days that I think I'd lose a day each side just to get to Calif. I have family there so usually do visit every few years. Thanks for the suggestions! You love your state and that's wonderful! Take care!

That sounds like a wonderful idea! I'm guessing that if you were to take a short cruise it would have to be from out of Florida. So you'll have to consider the extra expense of flying first to the cruise port unless you are close enough to drive to it. My husband and I went on our first cruise a couple of years ago. I had a great time. It was a 5 night cruise out of Cape Liberty, NJ to Bermuda. So really we only had about 2 days in Bermuda. I liked the cruise a lot. There was always something going on so you can't ever be bored on a cruise. The only problem I had was that I was quesy for the first full day at sea and the last night at sea. We had left in a rain storm going out and coming back. I'm sure if we had not been in a storm then I would have felt fine. I still think you should try a cruise if you've been wanting too. There are plenty of people that love them. So try it and see.

Hi! Untill now I've never been on a cruise, but sincerely it seems boring to stay on a boat all the time, even if it's a wonderful boat... For sure I'm wrong and you'll enjoy your vacation. You'll tell us after you make this experience! Ciao!

I wouldn't be on the boat the whole time if I take the carribean cruise as they stop at different ports so I'd be able to get off and enjoy a day trip all over a new island place. Then the ship would be more like a moving hotel. I really would enjoy some time swimming and sunning in addition to day trips so that's why I thought a cruise might be a good option. There are some amazing deals available now and that's partly why too! Thanks for your comments!! Take care!
