Say you placed an order to go... and then left the restaurant with your food....

...and got home only to discover your order was WRONG - would you drive back to the restaurant to have them replace it? Would it depend how far you had to drive or what was in your bags? LOL!
This happened to us just this weekend, my husband brought home some fried fish and chicken and when he opened the container of chicken, he found out they had packed legs and not thighs. He hates chicken legs. He IMMEDIATELY took the container of chicken and got back in the car lol.

LOL! One time I was tossing bags at the kids trying to ask them to check and make sure they had their apples and toys and fries and that I got chicken or cheeseburgers for the right kids, and that their drinks were what they ordered.... because I had to move ahead or be run over by this gigantic raised 4x4 truck on speed....

That is why one should check the order before leaving the shop. We are all human, things get miscommunicated.
I'm a bit surprised they corrected it considering the time it takes to get home and then discovering the discrepancy, then driving back. I think most of the businesses here would suspect you are pulling a fast one (unless you are a regular customer, of course.)

That's a bit of a cynical response. I have only had this happen a handful of times, and one time I regret I just threw out the food because I A. couldn't eat it, and B. didn't have any more time on my lunch break to drive back there, order what I wanted, and eat.
If you have a receipt - which most businesses will give you when you pay for your food - and what they gave you does NOT match what your receipt says you paid for, regardless of whether you left and how long it's been when you drive back or call them, as long as MOST or all of the food is still there for you to trade in, I've never had a problem. Never had anybody accuse me of anything, and you can believe people would get mad if restaurant or store employees were accusing them of anything UNLESS someone wanted an order replaced and they ate all of the wrong order. Sometimes they just check to see they did give you the wrong order and they will give you your order and tell you to just keep the wrong order too, since they can't take back any food, they'd just be throwing it away.
Another thing, you're right about the regular customer thing. Also if you placed a very large order (and thus spent a lot of money), a place will more than likely credit you, issue you a gift card, or replace the order for free because they want to keep your business, especially now when people aren't going out for food as often. Customer service has deteriorated so badly in today's society, that if I get great service from anybody, from a greeter in Target to someone who takes my order at McDonalds, I am absolutely THRILLED. I would definitely be a repeat customer if I am treated well after they make a mistake. Maybe I am old school, I still EXPECT great service. I go out of my way to appreciate those who actually deliver it.

It's like you said, it would depend on how far it was, what the wrong order was, etc. If I liked what was in there and if it was enough for everybody who was eating, I might just keep it.

This has happened to me soooo many times, I NEVER leave anymore without checking the bag to make sure I have what I ordered!!! No, I don't drive back. I do call & speak with the manager & usually get a verbal coupon that my next meal is free!!! When they tell me to drive back & they'll make it good, I refuse reminding them that I had driven there once & it is THEIR job to get the order correct & if I can't get a correct order at a convenient time, I can just drive past them & go to a competitor. I usually try & go the very next day to pick up my correct order before they forget!!!

LOL OMG my hubby would have a sh*t fit when this happens to him!! i mean he really is not happy when they send him the wrong thing. he is on the phone ready to kill someone. i can't count how many times he got into on the phone with one of our local places!! me, it depends. i don't eat pork or shell fish so if i ordered something and they sent me something that i just can't eat, then i will send it back. but if they sent me legs instead of thighs i would let it slide

I always check the order before I leave the restaurant, and hubby is finally learning to as well. If we don't check the order before we leave, then we will deal with what we get, because it's our own fault for not checking!

Hi mommyboo! I miss you my long lost friend! I miss our "chats"!
I don't have a car, but it has happened when I have ordered
from my favorite Chinese take-out! The bf usually picks it
up and once in awhile we do get it delivered! But, when it's
wrong they come and get it! I'm with your husband! I hate
legs and thighs so it would have to go back! That's why if
the bf picks stuff up I always tell him to check it! Now he
loves all pieces of chicken, but I only like boobies (the other
word's not allowed)! And since Kentucky Fried is a nice walk
back I know he wouldn't go back and I would be very unhappy!
Heh, you're paying for it, you deserve to get what you wanted!
These places aren't cheap!

I would probably call the restaurant and tell them about the problem and hopefully they would be prepared to come to me with the right food.
However, it would probably depend on what was in the bag. If it was something else that I liked then I probably wouldn't bother.
