Would you adopt a dog from the pound?

My daughters are canine lovers. Unfortunately, dog snouts give me the goosebumps. I do not know why. But my daughters truly wanted a four-legged pet in the home. And they insisted that we rescue one from the pound. It is now called dog adoption center. So off we went to the pound to look for one that we could add to the family. Now we have Artemis, a mixed breed! And our home is never the same. Would you adopt a dog from the pound, too?

Hi Eileen, I think i need to check on how i will feel once i see the dog. If i feel something positive during the moment of meeting the dog... i will definitely adopt him but if no feelings at all--sorry. i might not be a good caretaker of him. LOL.

That is very sound. My daughter followed your premise, too. They had bonded fairly well.

Making bathing a totally wonderful experience so that the dog will be allowed to curl on the couch. My two daughters are natural dog bathers. They seem to be having fun in the backyard. My role is to hand in the towel for drying.

We got my dog, Sasha, from the pound as a puppy seven years ago. She is a fabulous dog, sweet tempered, loves people and other dogs. I would adopt from the pound in a heartbeat! And you get to save a dog!

That is really great of you!!! Dogs are GREAT pets and it's really good of you to give one a chance even though you don't seem to favor them much. I really hope that this dog changes your mind! :) For me, it's all about adopting from the pound. I would never buy from a breeder! I think it should be illegal for people to breed their animals (for profit or otherwise).

I am with you on that point about breeding for profit. But people now tend to make money out of everything. But dogs are really great pets. Adopted or not, they are most loyal and protective.

I have taken a dog in from a rescue center and he was a collie cross and i would say he was the best dog i have ever had aswell as the most relaxed dog,he used to sleep with the cats down stairs aswell as he used to know when my daughter was about to have a fit aswell as if she was getting ill, great dog that had no training but was great when out aswell as indoors.I would rescue another, but we already have 3 dogs and 5 cats.

If the dog is still a puppy, yes why not! But if it's already grown up, I'm afraid to adopt from a pound.

My adopted dog is all grown up. And she has breeding. I think her masters before had trained her well. I am the one spoiling her.
