i just watched the movie, dead poets society starring robin williams who played a professor that have greatly influenced his students to love poetry and to seize the day. There's this one student, played by Robert Sean Leonard, who plays Dr Wilson in House, who was very excited and enthusiastic about being the lead role on the play the midsummer night's dream. However, his father strongly disapproves of it despite seeing how great his performance was. This lead him to pick up his father's gun and kill himself. He did not have the guts to tell his parents how he felt all these years. He just kept it to himself, and decided to end his misery by ending his life. I cried after he died. Lol. But then i thought about it, an there really are parents like that who pushes their kids to be the best even though that's not what the kids want. They love their parents so they follow. But those who are strong willed, rebels against. But the weak of heart are victims, because we cannot hear their cry for help. Then the pressure leads to suicide. I believe that we should still let our kids decide what they want to do in life and how they feel. Do you know or have any similar experiences?

Many parents make the mistake, and don't even realize that they are doing it, but try to live out their dreams by pushing their children in a certain direction, or to persue a particular career. I have always supported my kids in whatever they chose to do. It is their life, not mine, and they must make the choice of what is best for them. I did always tell my daughters they could achieve whatever they set out to do.

that's true. When i have my first kid i'll let him do what he wants. But i'll advice him to pursue music first because that's my passion. Lol. If he doesn't like it then it's fine with me.
