How many of you have started your gardens indoors? I have tomatoes and peppers in. How about you?

I didn't start my garden indoors. I just waited for it to warm up a little, then I began planting outdoors. I'm hoping we're not going to get one more late freeze. It's usually over by this time, but I've known it to snow in early April here (southern New Mexico). So far so good. I planted most of my garden (tomatoes, cabbage, herbs, and onions) last week. I finished up yesterday with watermelons, cantelope, cucumbers, beans, rosemary and a pomegranate tree. I looked this morning...no sprouts :}

In MI we have just started to have days in the 50's and a frost on the ground in the morning. Our fall will be early and they will not be mature enough to produce fruit if I don't start them now. Somethings I will be able to start directly in the garden. Corn, carrots, peas and those items. Good Friday, potatoes, peas and such go directly in the garden. Hope you have good luck.

Thank you for the BR. My garden isn't going so well. The rock squirrels are eating my tomatoes and strawberries as fast as they're coming up. Caterpillars ate up all my parsley. The watermelon and cantelope didn't make it, and last week, I ended up pulling up all the cabbage. They just went from a few leaves to flower. I'm still trying, but I've been disappointed so far. The only thing I've got to enjoy is the basil, oregano, and cilantro. And the beans are coming and no one's (squirrels) bothering them...yet. Hope you're doing better than me!

Hi sallyj, here in my place we don't have the winter season therefore we could grow our favorite plant at any time. The indoor plants we grow here are mostly for decoration. I have some vegetable plants in my front and side courtyards. I'm not the type of diligent person therefore I pick those plants which are easy to be take care of to grow in the compound. I take turn to plant long beans, lady's fingers, pumpkins, wax gourds, etc. The most easy one is to plant sweet potatoes and chili. We like to take stirred fried baby sweet potato leaves with shrimp paste and chili. It's really yummy to be taken together with plain hot rice. I don't plant tomatoes as we are hardly to get any harvest though the plats grow vigorously with lovely blooms. Might be this is due to the scorching weather here Have a nice day and happy posting

I admit that people living in tropical countries are considered to be lucky to have more chances to grow vegetable plants for part of our daily consumption. Yesterday my hubby had harvested five sweet potatoes which weighed approximately 3 kilos while he was clearing the old sweet potato plants We are going to plant some long beans as well as lady's fingers after the ground is cleared thoroughly. I hope you would grow your favorite plants nicely in your garden after winter. Yeah, plants would grow lively and nicely if having sufficient sunlight which will enable them to grow healthy and fruitfully You are very much welcome and have a nice day

You are lucky, we get quite a bit of snow in the winter. I plant sweet potatoes some years, but this year i did not get hardly any shoots. I put one in water about january and have maybe 4 shoots and they are only 3 to 4 inches long with very little leaf growth. I don't know why, because they usually grow vigorously and are ready to plant way before the weather gets good enough to put them out in the garden. Thank you and happy mylotting.

Hi there! im fond of gardening as well, may it be veggies, ornamentals or fruit bearing trees. Right now, i only have Celis as my indoor plants. Within our house terrace i also have tomatoes but minus the fruits, my plant was too young to bear having it this time.

I bet by now you have tomatoes set on. Isn't fun to grow these plants.
