As long as we live in this world,we all have to work and earn a living. But what is a good job?More money?More vacation and holidays?9-5?Less work?I don't know what is a good job and I think everyone will has different standard. Some may think tnat a good job is a job that will build up your self-image.Others will probably think thatA group of co-workers who can really work with you and get things done.Whatever it is,you can share with us and let's exchange our ideas.

Hi wildlittlefan :) Good question. Very timely on a personal level. Recently I just graduated this March and I'm currently in a search of finding that dream job. I don't really know what a good job is since I haven't experienced having one yet. You can be right though, the factors affecting a good job can be on the job's environment itself, the salary or the specifications. But for me, having no job experience at all; a dream job for me is something I can be proud of, a medium in which I can share with the world what I got, something which will demand more of my time and effort but it's all worth it, and something that will satisfy me and my family's needs. I still can't figure out what kind of job is that though I already have an idea about it. :) That is actually one of my prayers these days, for God to give me the right job and opportunity for me and I'm still waiting and searching for God's answers though I'm also in a personal quest myself. God bless and take care!

Sorry for posting my response twice due to net connection error :( Anyway, I don't think there is really a perfect job, but I believe there's a dream job out there which is right for each one of us. :) You have a good point there, but I guess it's either you work hard or you'll stay on a low-paying job. Anyhow, it's all in God's purpose. Just wait for the right opportunity to come and keep the faith. That's what I've learned the past few days.

I think a good job is one that "pays" close to your ability. It's one that you enjoy. Myself, my good jobs have been ones where I made a reputation for myself. I was an adult education math intructor and also worked in a community college. It felt good to know that students were asking to be put in my classes or seeing other teacher's students approaching me for help. Of course, it was with the other teachers's blessings because sometimes they would send their students to me. Seeing the student understand and master a math concept made me feel great. This is the kind of job where I went home and thought of better strategies, if I wasn't getting across to a student. So pay and satisfaction that I'm doing a great job are my standards.

Hello RobtheRock. You got me there :) It's a great feeling when a student understands what you are discussing, even better when a student remembers you and still keeps in touch after school. The best feeling is when learning between a student and a teacher is already beyond the classroom level, though still a balance between friendship and teacher-student relationship. :) I feel so honored when my students remember me even though I'm already out of the school I used to work with.. Realistically, teachers should be given the right compensation for their efforts :( It's a tough job but still discrimination's everywhere.

I know how that feels. I am not a teacher but once I was assigned by one of the teachers to take over a kinder class. There were two of us assigned (we were only 3rd year high school students that time), and we did all we could to make them happy. Fortunately they liked us, to the point that they started asking us when we would come back again. It feels good knowing that you made them happy and left them with something new.

I think you made a point in here that a good job must be something you like. But at the same time, there are just some reality in this world that we can't have everything we want in this world. There are times we want a good pay job but something we like to do at the same time,it can't be that perfect all the times.Sometimes, we will get a job which is what we like to do , but it is low pay as well. The salary could hardly support our family.A good example is that I love working over the internet because it is just full of freedom and great opportunities all the times and I can be my own boss as well. Unfortunately, it is not easy to earn a living online if we don't have those seo skills or drive traffic to our website. We can do some typing like what we are doing in mylot. Is mylot fun? yes.Can you earn a living in mylot? No. At least it is hard .and almost impossible. I hope that I can really enjoy my full time job and also enjoy my internet work at the same time, but still I am only dreaming because I've been unemployed for more than tow years now. It is 3am in the morning now but I am still typing for a few cents, it is no fun if you don't have a job that can really keep you survive.Anyway, thank you for your response and I think I really have to go to sleep now.Perhaps I can enjoy my life only in the dream tonight now.Good night.

Hello, I really like that question, it's pretty good and hard to answer. Well I think that a good job does need to pay well, you just need to have money in this society, we all know that. There's people starving, not because they don't get enough love, NO, it's just because they can't affort food, they don't have the money! According to my own standard a good job is a job where I do earn a lot of money, but still have time for myself, I don't want to be working all day. Another must is that I like my job, it shouldn't be too hard either. Greetings, samyboy280

I would love a job that fulfils my professional aspirations. Of course, I would prefer a job that gives me work and life balance. But I look at it as a complete package including leaves, opportunities to learn and grow. Money is an important part, but not the sole aspect of a good job for me. Cheers! Ram

for me, a good job is a job where you enjoy yourself. it's when you don't have to orce yourself to wake up in the morning to go to your office. when you're happy doing your job, then you have a good job. although of course, it helps when the pay's good and you get a lot of benefits and days off.

I think there are a number of ways to determine what a good job is but the way I look at it is, if you love a job that you are doing then it's a good job no matter what the job is. Some people would think that a good job is one that tends to pay a high salary but is it really a good job if someone is unhappy in that role? Yes, they may be on a high salary but what's the point if there's nothing but unhappiness and discontent! I think the most important thing in life is to be happy! You want to wake up each morning and you want to look forward to arriving at work and actually doing a job you love. When you have nothing but love for a job without question, then it's a good job! I think that the most important thing about a good job is that it is something that you love. It is easy to have a job that pays a lot of money where you think that you are happy because you never have to worry about things financially, but the work itself tends to bring you down because it isn't something that you enjoy doing. I had a job like that and I loved the work but I didn't love my co-workers. I ended up leaving that job for a job that paid less but that I enjoyed a lot more and it worked out far better for me. The only reason I left the job that I enjoyed was because my son was born.

My dream job is something that works for a high purpose, a humanitarian company as an example. That would be great. Nice, thoughtful administrators/managers are an important factor for me. I have had a job before where there was bad management, and I didn't really like it. A good compensation of course, but if it's a social work organization then I wouldn't expect to get high salary. A company that takes good care of its employees is always a wanted factor.

Well,it's hard to say what kind of job is the best because everydoby has his own standard.Everydody has differnt age, different background, differnt interest...So,as long as someone is happy and satisfied with his job, that is a good job.

I've been working in a company for more than 11 years now. It's the perfect job for me, I think, though you might be surprised to know that it's very much out of way from the course I graduated from. But mind you, before I finally decided to stay here, I already had six jobs which I quitted for some reasons. Meaning, this was not my first job since it's very rare that one person will find a job for the first time and that's it- meaning, he/she will stick to it 'til retirement age. You'll really have to try it first before you can stay it's the right job for you. Personally, there may be a lot of GOOD jobs basing on people's standards but they may still not be the job for you. My job is just right for me because it gives enough pay, enough vacation, good work environment, room for personal and professional growth, etc. etc. Most of all, like I always say, when I look back at all the work that I've done back at the office at the end of the day, I never fail to get that feeling of "self-fulfillment" which I never found on all of the first six jobs that I quitted from.
