There are a numnber of models/approaches; Psychoanalyticm (most famously, Freud) Behaviourist/ Would you take the Medical Approach/Biological Cognitive Humanistic For me, I realy don't know as a whole. I like some of the stuff you get from Psychoanalytic, Cognitive and the Behavourist as well as the Medical but then, to evaluate them proerly, you can see that, they all have good and bad points. You will find, when researching them, that they all have things you will agree and disagree with. So what do you think?

A lot depends on personal disclosure value or the summation of one's own feelings and thoughts about what particular approach to take. Granted that one's choice might be skewed depending on the clinical practice in one's environment (i.e. what the school of thought his current program ascribes to) or the approach used by one's mentor, it really still depends on what person feels as 'fitting' to his own identity --a person who considers himself a rational thinker most probably won't do psychoanalysis, while a person who 'lives by dream interpretation' would be at odds with behaviorism. There are concepts of integration and electicism though, in which the former focuses on creating a new individual approach, and the latter concentrating on a mash-up of the techniques of different approaches. You might dabble in this too. Anyway, it would be good to just reflect on your own thinking processes first, find the approach that fits, and master that approach first before moving on to others. Mastery of one approach helps you understand the others. (Oh, and I'm a cognitive-behavioral person, if you want to know.)
