You have to loot a potato chip truck!
Atlantic City police said a Frito-Lay delivery truck was stolen, abandoned and recovered, but not before some people helped themselves to "free" snacks. Police Sgt. Monica McMenamin said the truck was stolen at about 10:45 a.m. Thursday when the driver went inside a store on Baltic Avenue, four blocks west of the Boardwalk casinos, to make a delivery.
When officers found the truck abandoned a short time later on nearby Maryland Avenue, people were running off carrying bags of chips.
Police arrested several looters, but have not yet located the person who stole the truck.

people'd probably do it whether or not the economy was bad.
a lot of people probably couldn't resist "free" munchies.the good thing is the company can probably write it off.

Doesn't surprise me at all. I dont suppose any of those people needed free crisps but just saw the opportunity for 'something for nothing'. They could have been anything from tampons to televisions... you can guarantee people would take them from an abandoned truck if they thought they could get away with it - even if they had no use for them.

That's a funny one...I wonder what motivates them to do such a thing? I think it's probably because they were feeling to have a snack but didn't have spare money...Man..that would be suck...I guess that shows the industry to lower the price a bit to stop further commotion.

Just adding to this, my auntie and her family ordered some pizzas a few months ago, they were told about 30 mins for delivery but waited about an hour, they called the pizza plaze and found out that the pizza guy had actually been mugged while delivering the pizza's, they punched him and kicked him and stole the pizza's! Ive heard of people being mugged for money but not pizza's. Its all going to far now.

Never let a good opportunity go to waste, I guess, and there's nothing better than free stuff!
Years ago my son was friends with a boy whose father worked for the Tastykake company. They lived a few blocks away and, once a month or so, the dad would come home with boxes of recently expired snack cakes in the bed of his truck. Anyone who wanted them could have them. My son would *always* bring home boxes of this stuff even though they weren't the best qualify anymore...sometimes downright stale. But, it was FREE STUFF!
