Former President George H. W. Bush likes to celebrate his birthday, he is around 86 now, by going skydiving. Would you like to learn how to skydive and take a jump through the heavens? Or are you too afraid of the sport, to even think about learning, as I would be? Share some of your thoughts.

...Hi there tigeraunt, I think that is why he does it. He wants to prove that he is not too old to jump out of planes. He is walking with a cane now and I wonder if he will jumo again, you never know. I don't think his sons, either one, would try skydiving, definitely not W. Although he did fly a plane. I want to learn to fly a small plane, but that is all in my mind. I don't think I could talk myself into learning how to skydive. I enjoy watching, but there it ends. Thanks so much for your response, take good care.

My theory is 'why would I want to jump out of a perfectly good plane?' lol I have never had the interest in skydiving, I have friends who have done it before, but not me! I'm not scared of heights, just jumping from a plane doesn't interest me. I have climbed up and spent a day in a fire tower in Pennsylvania, and the view was fantastic, that didn't bother me a bit. There is just something wrong with jumping out of a plane lol

....Hi palonghorn, I am still laughing at what you have said "o). You are funny. Come on, skydiving is just something that people who are bored with their lives got together and decided would be something fun to do. Like watching cars drive around a race track and have accidents every now and then. We humans are always looking for thrills. I will watch but that's the extend of it. I remember Jim O'Brien, a newscaster out of Philadelphia, who used to skydive, and me saying, he is going to have an accident one day. And sure enough, I'm sorry to say, I was watching tv on a Sunday with the sound down, but everyboody looked very sad and they were announcing that Mr. O'Brien's chute did not open and he was gone. I liked him a lot. That kind of took away any interest I had in skydiving on a personal basis. But those who have the courage, if you want to call it that, to jump out of a plane from the sky, may God bless them and keep them safe. Not I. Thanks for sharing, take good care.

I have done it. It was fun, but I went through a thorough training course first, and by the time it was my turn to jump, I was not frightened at all. After I left the plane I got to free fall for a few seconds and then the chute opened. For me, it was not that big a deal. Your chute opens and you float to the ground. It was more fun getting pulled around Acapulco Bay by a boat while I was strapped to a parachute.

...Hi trruk1, First let me apologize for not answering you sooner. I was unaware of your response. It sounds as if you had a great time. Well prepared and everything. Thanks so much for sharing your experience with us. The boat skiing sounded like fun as well. I have never done either as yet. Take very good care.

That would be great! I would love to try that if given a chance. Not that I am not afraid of heights, but I love these things. I know it's scary as hell but it's also fun at the same time. These kinds of adventures are the those that we will never forget and will be forever proud of.

...Hi mjcookie, I think that skydiving would be one heck of a thing to do. When I see people doing it, like the groups that go up and get together and join hands on the way down, I think, how awesome. Although I have wanted to learn how to fly a plane tor a long time, I don't have an inclination to learn how to skydive. But those who do, as you say must have a great time and remember the experience forever. Thanks for your response, take good care.

...Hi there setsuna, I really like watching the people who are courageous enough to jump out of planes. But I have to say, that I am much too chicken to risk it. I even applaud those who bungee jump. "o) I am crazy enough to want to get my pilot's license and fly small planes, when, I don't know. So I just watch and enjoy vicariously like you, with your brother. Thanks for sharing, take good care.
