Do you think this will be a good discussion?

Why is it easy to have more responses when you have less words on your topic? It's easier to draw more attention to a single line question than a one-paragraph topic.I wonder why?

As far as I am concerned, I think we are so busy day by day, which need us to save a lot of time to do other things. If the topic you just post shoter, I think people can be easy to know the exact meaning of you, then they will response to it soon.

right out there, but sometimes topics are required to have introductions so that you will understand the idea in it better. Without more words, there will be a confusion on what it means, hence those one-liners will appear a dumb question so less people respond to it.

hey basqui! I think it really depends on the topic that you are doing. I don't expect to get lots of responses on my discussions. I'm pretty much glad that someone took the time of reading my post, they liked it and they replied to my discussion.

Uhm, yeah, the good content really matters. Sometimes more words, more confusion. Even if you are trying to explain further then the more the topic is not understandable. But most topics here need more explanation especially when asking for guidance.

WEll, better to preview it first or think if it will really be appealing to the others. It's better to have a topic which is generalized.

Yeah.. Most of the time. I have like 2 topics today with no response. I'm quiet confused with it myself. YOu know submitting discussions and not checking if it's right or not..

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that many Lotters think that reading doesn't pay. They don't read long topics and they don't read responses before posting their own. Then often they have written almost the same thing as another user in a previous response and theirs does not seem original. Many think that they can earn more by responding to lots of short and simple topics but they don't realise that many of them are repeated and will be deleted later, causing them to earn nothing. SOme, but only a few, of the one line topics have something to discuss but I much prefer a topic whether there is more to read and the original poster gives their own opinion too.

sad but true. We'll didn't we all did the same when we were newbies? Thanks to running into discussions of seniors that i learned more to have healthy discussions by writing more with sense and have the idea understood first before leaving a word. We'll I haven't experienced having my comment deleted because it's the same as another comment. It was just that it was posted on a topic that violated the guidelines so it was deleted with the whole discussion. Yeah those people haven't got much from just having one-liners so they think that it does not pay much here so they stopped mylotting.

Maybe because some people find it anoying having to read half a novel before they can start thinking about a good answer for the discussion?

Exactly, im a little bit of the same style i prefeer making a good answer than spending 5 minutes reading what the discussion is about, though if it is catchy then none the less i will both read and respond to it.

Well, we can't blame them, we are not all created to have all the wits to have a very creative brain. And some really don't want to spend the time reading, they really want to spend time on responding.

Well, discussions from seniors are catchy even if those are long-written topics. We learn from them so it's better to read more on their discussions if those are really interesting.

Hi,there.I don't think the lines matter so much. What most important is the topic about .But for me ,I'd like to read some posts which are about 2-6 lines. If it's too long ,I just feel like it's difficult for me to understand and sometimes I even can't hung in there and read it to the end.

Hmm, there are some writers who write their topics here effectively. It's like they use each line to explain the preceding line so that it's really enjoyable to read. Watch out for these good topics, they are usually made by senior users.

I'm wondering, if your post will be deleted!! lol =D But i'm surprised to see it still standing after 2 days.. hehe ^_^ NO matter what, i will still be here answering to your question.. haha =D It does not matter if the topic has got just one line or one paragraph.. WHat's important is the title of the post.. It has got to be eye-catching and makes ple curious about what's in there ^_^ And from there, it depends on each individual if they wanna respond to it ^_^

hmm, why would it be deleted? have i done something against the guidelines here? please enlighten me so that I wouldn't do it next time. Yeah, titles matter too. I always think of catchy titles for my discussions but i guess I'm not successful for most discussions.

hi basqui I often wondered that but a lotof mylotters will respond to anyone line discussion no matter how stupid as they are to lazy to read more than a line thus bypass a lot of higher quality discussions which really irks me, for one thing the short short discussion often does not get paid, mylot wants quality not fifteen one line discussions done in a half hour about nothing really, not giving you anything to respond to unless you love telling your favorite flavor of ice cream or your favorite color, and your favorite pizza topping, which a lot of us do not really like, quality not quantity. I have had many discussions with a lot of responses and I did not rely on one short silly sentence. You draw more attention if you have an interesting discussion, something that means something to most people.and mine are one paragraph so its not always the short inane discussion that gets the votes. you have to give people something to respond to.

Hi basqui I learned the hard way that you needed to open up with enough sentences to at least make others understand what you were trying tosay and also found a little more effort earned me much more money too. Happy Easter.

Yeah, i've seen some of your discussions and are really interesting. I think most seniors here have really learned that the quality of discussion matters as you said. Well, when i was just starting here, I used to do such things as respond to each and every topic i open with a single sentence but as I was reading from seniors post, I learned to have good posts by writing more on the comment or response.

i REALLY PREFER MORE THAN ONE LINE BUT WHATEVER. ALOT OF PEOPLE just throw anything out there thinking they are going to make more money & when i think that's what they are doing i don't bother responding. There is alot of silliness in alot of the discussions.

Well, you should have some warm-up first. Fresh from bed and lazy enough to take a coffee, well, I have those moments too but the excitement to have a good discussion is what keeps my energy up so I love to find interesting topics that explain more of the topic than ordinary ones.

Hi basqui, Usually I try to avoid one line discussion because it is not a discussion for me. To started a discussion, the started must give a clear picture of the situation and if possible his/her stand in that situation. Most of the one line discussion is actually more to question and answer type. But I would response to one line discussion when I desperately need a discussion to response to especially at the end of the month. I think you know what I mean. But do really one line discussion receive more response? I do not think so. They definitely would not get the response from the senior (base on their activities) here.

Yep, seniors have learned the lesson that more discussions are enjoyable if it has more words on it. I'm starting to learn too. When I was new here, I only replied with one liners and started with several words only. Newbies want to respond to more discussions so they respond to almost every discussion with a single liner. Oh, payouts huh? More discussions are needed really when that time is really near.

It is not all true. I think it is really depends on the discussion. I find it difficult to respond to a one liner or short discussion especially if the topic is not really clear to me. I'd rather spend a little more time reading a longer discussion,in this way, i know how to respond aptly.:-) However, there are discussions started by mylotters who can express themselves in few words, thus, comprehensible.I will feel lucky if I will stumble upon such type of discussion. Yours definitely is short but comprehensible. Don't wonder why if this will gain responses more than you have expected.:-)

Uhm, maybe that's so, there are discussions that have lots of essence in less words. Some have more words on it but no sense at all. I hope all of us don't lose good sense here, and add more sense of humor!

If it's one liners then most people that responds to it are not reading the guidelines. You better check Mr Lamb's discussions they are quite long but they get to be responded by more people. If you make good discussions no matter how long and short it would be people would flock to read and respond to it.

Yeah, Mr. Lamb is one good starter and responder too. He's one of the seniors here i think and have the reputation. I think he earns much here at Mylot.

Oh, you are one of those who gets bothered by long details huh? But sometimes, there are enjoyable topics that are to be understood well and that it needs more explanations so that the idea is understood more. Well, would you wanna eat with just a spoonful of food? Well, everyone wants to finish the whole plate.

I really do not know if long dicussions get good responses or the shorter ones coz I do not get much. I really feel that the shorter ones do not convey much. There are some one liner discussions which are really quite short to really understand. So usually I keep my fingers crossed after posting a discussion hoping that atleast I get some responses as I have discussions which have not received responses at all.

Well, I did not really expect to get this much responses when I posted this one. I think the interest of others really helps. Or the curiosity of readers once they read the title of the topic. If it catches their attention if what that topic really have inside then it might help.
