Man of the Match is given in every match. But you might have noticed that there will be some others 'one' or 'two' who play a very crucial part and without them victory seems to be difficult for the side. And they are referred as unofficial Heroes of the Match. Robin Uthappa's innings against KXIP was one such! No doubt all others contributed very well to the victory. But even after that, they had to score 60 runs off 30 balls. Robin came when Kohli's wonderful innings came to an end when he tried to hit a six off a full toss. RCB needed 52 runs off 27 balls. When Robin got out RCB needed 23 runs of 18 balls. With 6 wickets in hand I think scoring 23 from last 3 overs is not that difficult. So Robin's innings, 22 runs from 8 balls was a turning point. Though, Pietersen got Man of the Match for his valuable knock of 66 runs 44 balls, Robin was one of the Heroes of the match alongside Kohli.

yeah it happens.sometimes i have seen those people pick the one who deserves to be given that but most of the time, they go by the quantity rather than the quality. for instance, vijay's knock was indeed a very good one but if you had taken bollinger from the attack,i am pretty sure that superkings would have lost the match because he is the only one bowler who was effective whereas every batsmen are plundering runs in that match.ojha 94,watson 50+,morkel 50+.these things will happen and as you said they will be the unsung heroes of the match which is more than one player in any match

Yes. Exactly. I thought, if I was the chooser I would have given Man of the Match to Bollinger. Simply he was the difference between two teams. If at all they thought they cannot leave out Vijay then they could have declared both of them for MOM award. In past sometimes there have been such incidents. Purely batsman oriented mindset.

There has been so many such instances in cricket Real meaning of "Man of the Match" is actually not understood by the concerned officials. Very rarely they pick up the real hero of the match.
