First do you celebrate Easter? Why or why not? Do you color your eggs for Easter and what colors? I am Greek so we primarily color our eggs in red. We bake a bread and put a red colored egg in it which represent the color of life, a symbol for Christ's blood so to speak and a few other reasons. We bake a read called tsoureki which is a braided or twisted sweet bread that is used throughout the holidays. I was wondering if anyone else has any cultural meaning of celebrating Easter or the reason for engaging in activities.

Our family has always celebrated Easter in both the religious tradition and also in a way that it is enjoyable for the children. That said, yes, we do color eggs for Easter. We typically dye them in pastel colors because I think that Easter is not just a religious holiday, but it is also the beginning of spring and of new life and the pastel colors remind me of that. Besides dying eggs for Easter, we also do an Easter Egg Hunt for the children and take part in th religious traditions. For us, it is a well rounded holiday.

So true, You can have and think of it as a chore. Its fun to hide the eggs on a hunt, but it awful if you do keep track of the eggs and you find a couple floating around later, . Happy Easter!

We did when I was a kid. And if I have kids, I'll do it again. But I would feel silly doing it just myself because I'm an adult.

hi newtalent yes I used to but now am in a retirement home.however when my kids w ere little we always colored easter eggs before easter. and on
Easter Sunday we always went to Church. our custom was to get new dresses and hats for Easter and ever woman wore a new hat of some style. too we used to always have hot cross buns, they were filled with candied fruits and frosted with a white frosting, and always a cross marked in them. really very delicous when served stillwarm from the oven. Greek customs have always intrigued me . your bread sound really delicious
and is a lovely custom too. I like the symbology of the red easter eggs, really lovely. We do celebrate the resurrection and look forward to Easter so much. thanks for the nice discussion.

Yes we go to midnight mass on Easter. Easter egg hunts. Making the baskets while helping our selves in the process, lol. Making bread and just being with family and friends. Happy Easter!

Yes, I celebrate Easter. We used to color eggs every year as a family but we haven't done it for the last couple of years. We used to hard boil some eggs and then get out some glasses for the different colors of dye. Then we would all sit down and color the eggs. Sometimes we would draw pictures on them, or stick stickers on them. Then they would live in the fringe for a few days and eventually we would break them open and eat them. It was fun enough at the time but these days I think it's kind of a silly tradition. I don't miss it much.

We only use red food coloring to color our eggs only during the holiday. We gather family and friends together to enjoy the spirit of Easter and enjoy their company.

Oh you mean the stuffed cabbage rolls. Yeah we make those all them time amongst other foods. It is hard sometimes to keep up with tradition when you live in another country that does not do what you do. We tend to sway from it slowly. Well take care and Happy Easter!
