My dog has THE worst smelling gas EVER. And it is sooo constant! We're all pretty much 'used to it' -- as used as anyone can get to the smell of rotting carcass! lol
Anyways...does anyone have any home tips on how to help control/stop her gas? We need help!!! lol
We've already tried changing her food, so that's why I'm now trying to find other remedies from you guys!
Thanks

Besides the food she eats she can also be eating too fast. Getting a slow down dish, (I am getting one for my puppies, because they both eat fast and one even has to stop a couple times to keep from hurling and the one that usually has gas.) I have a site where you can get one at a reasonable price and they take paypal. Just PM me if you think this is something you need.

They only eat once a day, in the morning. Could the speed she eats really effect her ALL day everyday?
My mom is in charge of buying their food bowl and other stuff, she probably wouldn't be interested in buying them new ones because the ones they are using now are pretty new, and still in really great shape.
Thank you!

Oooh, I don't think my dog would eat the marbles, but that is not something I want to risk. Stopping her gas is not worth my dogs health/life! heh

Yes, it can. another thing you can do which I don't suggest but other people have done is to put marbles in the dish, this makes them eat around them.

It's probably her diet. I know you have tried different foods, but something she is eating is causing it. Start her on a home cooked meal of white rice and low fat chicken. Keep it up for about a week. If she is ok on that you know she can eat chicken. If not switch to rice and lamb for a week.
Slowly add one new food a week until you find out which ingredient is causing the gas. Corn is a common one, but it could be anything.
My dog loves green veggies and most fruits. Silly dog.

I don't think my mom would be up to that whole big experiment! And it wouldn't be a good idea for me to try--I manage to mess up ANYTHING I try to cook! lol The only thing I do right is heating my tea!!! Beyond that I am pretty unreliable in the kitchen lol.

Rice isn't that much harder than tea. LOL I do mine in the microwave. Still takes 20 minutes, but the microwave turns itself off after it's done. Cooking is easy if you keep it simple.
Try new bags of food. Look for rice based with no corn. Corn is frequently a problem.
Look for foods that say that they are for sensitive stomachs or digestion problems ect.

Just wanted to say, That the adding one food at a time is what you are supposed to do with human babies also.

I think Maggie and Roxie could be contenders. I honestly don't know how anyone could smell worse than Maggie!!!! lol
So these "Green Fogs" antibiotics worked??

LOL! My dad always comments about how he's trying to eat when Maggie let's loose. But now that I think of it...usually when I'm eating she holds off on it (she really must love me!) lol

You can change food, but if the change still has food that the dog can't process, then the dog will continue to have gas. Like wheat, dogs can't digest wheat. Some veggies and fruit they can digest and some they can't. If he was a rescue, he could have actual gastro-intestinal issues. My husband used to have a lot of gas when his thyroid was haywire. If all the foods in the dog food should be able to be digested by your dog, then I would add yogurt to his diet. Yogurt can help anyone digest better. If anyone has had anti-biotics, they have trouble afterward wtih digestiong or if they had a severe gastro-intestinal problem. But yogurt, plain yogurt with live cultures can help people, dogs, cats, anyone.

The first ingredient in your dogs food should be meat. It should not be grain. Rice, sweet potatoes are fine. Corn, wheat, and soy should not be in the food. Beans of any type should not be in the food.

LOL, sounds like she needs to be wormed.
I'd ask my local veterinarian or pick up some
good worm pills.
I have some worming meds I buy over the internet
that is all natural. Just can't think of the name and it's
in Montana as I forgot to bring it with me.
Still I'd try the vet first you more than likely be glad
you wormed her:)

You aren't talking about her having worms in her body are you?? She takes preventative medicine for that!
If that's not what you're talking about, I have never heard the concept of "worming" a dog. What does it mean? lol
Thanks!@quita88 (3715)

Of course I'm talking about living worms in her body. If she does take the preventative medicine then I'd still have her checked for the parasites.
Worming is the same thing you do when do the preventative medicine.
Other than her maybe having worms I really have no clue as to the gas unless she's eating something she shouldn't be.
Ask the vet.
