I graduated from a PUBLIC school back in elementary.. Got loads and loads of requirements... 15 notebooks all in all, like there are some subjects that needs two to three notebooks...We share books but we still got loads of them. I got like 10 books. We need to bring it everyday..I remember having a very big bag for it. So much for being a very obedient student I bring all of them to class. I look like going somewhere and gonna go back home for a long time when I leave home.. Am short and imagine me bringing a big bag.. huhu.. What about you ever tried this?

I experienced that student's burden of bringing to school many books. Thank God that the school where I studied in elementary was near our house so I did not grow a humpback. I still had the burden when I went to the city high school, But luckily we ride a service vehicle so less having the bag all in the back when going to school.

Yeah, I was a good student in high school. That's until high school only. I started having fun outside of the school in college. With all the temptations for a student, I almost did not graduate.

Hey basqui.... I think that most of us filipinos had experienced this... hmmmm We got lots and lots of books and notebooks but we don't use them all at the same day. It's just that we are required to bring them everyday. Your lucky your school was near your home as for me it's a tricycle ride.. High school? Good boy.. haha Usually my guy classmates don't bring anything at all..

I used to carry a big bag too while I was still in primary school. In fact, I am quite sure that it is because of that event that caused me to have bad posture at the moment (and consequently a hunched appearance). Now I get commented by many family members, relatives and friends, and some even had the cheek to laugh at my appearance. I have tried in vain to correct my posture, but it is difficult because I had to carry the stupid heavy bag for a period that spanned a few years, and I guess my bone has adapted to that additional weight and "stress". Worse still, there were times when I had to walk back from school, and the distance from school to my home was about 2kms! That was one of the reasons why I hated school when I was young.....the moral of the story: don't carry a heavy bag if you can help it, because it will be good for your long term spine health.....

Yeah, I can totally relate to that. I remember I always had to bring everything to school because teachers can just walk into the class and demand for homework even though his or her class wasn't on that day. And worse of all, there will be punishments for those students who didn't hand in the homework on that particular day....stupid education system we've got there.....

I think it's not the system it's the people who are in charge... It was fun and scary at the same time. I think it helped me to be disciplined a bit. It was really tiring though.. hekhek

We'll I actually experienced the same thing. I sometimes walk home from school. Pretty far from our place. I'm sorry about your back though.. You know the frustrating part.. The things that you bring are not gonna be used on that day and we had to do that every single day.. We bring it every day...

It was never that bad for me. 2 - 3 books plus a notebook at most. I worry about the heavy stuff my kids are carrying back and forth though.

Back in school it was usually one notebook per class and one textbook per class. We may be required to also have graph paper, and there may be another book we'd use but generally we'd use them only in class. Like our teachers would have us using the older textbooks as well as the newer ones. It seemed like when I got to my senior year the textbooks were thicker as well. We were allowed to carry our backpacks in highschool where in middle school we could not do this, we had to carry our books for our classes in our hands. Generally in middle school we'd carry our books for two or three classes and then go to our lockers after that. I remember way back in elementary school having a cloth bag on the back of our chairs and our name on a piece of paper that I don't know I could describe what it looked like, in any case, our names would be on it on our desk and at the end of the year we were able to take our name thing home, and I think the bag as well! We also had brown packets we'd take home every week to let the parents know how we were doing etc, this was back in elementary school. Well I could say more but I've said enough!

Hey scg! It's a good thing that your school has lockers our schools don't have one.. I think that bringing them is okay. Your only problem would be in going home. I like your school because I would have learned a lot of things maybe..hehehe Well, Thanks for droppin' and telling me everything about it. I like to know about someone's school and all..

Been there done that. I hate carrying those books, public or private school, it's all the same. I remember walking up the staircase every morning, life is such a pain for me during those days. It looks like we are mountaineers at a very young age

I experienced this back in elementary too. I don't know why I'm bringing all those books though not all of them are being used everyday. I guess I'm just too afraid to get scold by my teacher. :)) Haha, It is really a good thing that someone thought of having bags with retractable wheels. Less burden on carrying books. :))

That is also one of the reasons why I bring all of them. I tried standing up the whole time when I wasn't able to bring one of my books.

Even way back in the 80s when I was in elementary and high school, we already carried a lot. It was like carrying the library to the classroom. Good thing we had strollers back then. This is probably why most Filipinos are short, because we go to school like dock workers.
