How do you enjoy life even in this time of economic crisis?

I always live a simple life so the economic crisis is not so tough to me. I enjoy life by staying at home and playing with my pets and writing online. Writing is the joy of my life and I make it a point to write every minute I could spare. I think the joy of living is in the way people look at life not in the material things that life could provide to people. If people have simple lifestyle then there is no reason why people will not be happy in this economic crisis. The way people look at life and adapt to situations is very important if a person wants a happy life even in this time of crisis.

Hi Masmasika, I'm quite content with my everyday simple and happy lifestyle. I earn enough for my daily expenses. If I need to replace any essential and expensive device like laptop, fridge, tv or appliance I then will save money by canceling plans which need considerable expenses like go on foreign vacation or buying other luxurious items. Yeah, a laptop with internet connection is a must for me. I spend most of my time working and having fun on my pc daily. I'm the regular visitor of MyLot site. I find lots of fun to read and write posts here. I will fall into depression for sure, if my laptop or internet connection doesn't work as usual. I spend part of leisure time take care of my vegetable and flower plants in my house compound. It's a great pleasure to watch the plants growing robustly as well as the beautiful blooming plants and the greenish leafy vegetables. Thus I still could enjoy my happy lifestyle during economic crisis Have a nice day

Sometimes I enjoy life, but I must confess to struggling. I'd like to better myself, and at the moment I can just barely pay the bills. Afterall, I live in a household with four incomes, and still we have troubles keeping the pantry full. In the last year alone, thanks to these so called "stimulus" packages--both from Obama, and Bush before him, the dollar has lost 10% of its purchasing power. Investors and economists everwhere are suggesting that the worst is yet to come. I do not forget the importance of Love and family, faith in God, hard work, self-control--all those things that matter. And I am grateful, learning to be moreso everyday, for the things I do have. Still, I want to be able to succeed in life, get debt free, provide for a future family and more. I wish I knew how best to answer your question. I'm taking very little time for play or for Love in my life right now. Right now I'm largely focusing on working my new job, building my new business, attaining my master's degree, and improving my habits. If I had more time for myself, for fun, and for Loved ones, I imagine I'd tell a completely different story. Good post, thanks for that.

Thank you, in turn, for both an intelligent post and a well spoken response. Success and freedom are just two things on my mind. Here lately, life and Loving life come to mind, too. I'm trying to find something that's a cross between the best of all worlds, and "the Tao". DR...

Hey DavidReedy, all of us want to be debt free and to have a comfortable life. Perhaps what make us different is the place where we live. I live in a country where life could be simple and happy because I could work a little, play a little, earn a little and yet enjoy life because life in my country could be just a simple one. I understand why you are struggling. You do have a lot to take care like having a master's degree. In my younger days, I used to dream of becoming a lawyer and I started to take law for a half year. But life turned around and I had a handsome son instead of a law degree. So now that I am older and have an adult son, I gave up wanting to go to school and instead concentrated on becoming an online writer. Now that I have achieved my simple dream to write every day, I am contented. I understand that in other countries, the lifestyle is very different from ours and keeping up with it especially in this kind of economic crisis is really tough. Thanks for a good and honest response.

I agree with you, if you live the simple life and not try to 'keep up with the jones'" then it's not big deal. I have my pup, and I love scrapbooking, I have a great collection of movies, so not going out and spending a bunch of money is no big crisis to me. I also have my computer and internet, so even though the economic crisis is real, I don't dwell on it on a daily basis. I have money to pay my bills, and a little extra.

I am used to struggling to make ends meet, and to sacrificing things that I want to be sure we have things that we need, so for me and my family, we really aren't sufferring too badly right now. The way we feel about it, as long as we are able to pay the bills to keep a roof over our heads and food on the table, we are blessed. Everything else, such as earning more income for our family, and saving for things we want to accomplish, are things that we can take care of as long as we keep trying, we will eventually reach our goals. We are not really a family that goes out a lot, and if we do, we generally do things that cost little to nothing, so we are not effected too badly that way either. I guess, if nothing else, all of the struggles I have gone through in my life, and all of the struggles my husband has gone through, has taught us to enjoy the simple things and to work hard to reach our goals.

Totally agree with you.Its a state of mind. Many people now keep saying they cant be happy without money but that is just pure materialistic. If u lead a simple lifestyle you can be happy in whatever situation you are in.For me,I do a lot of reading and jogging and i feel good about it eventhough the financial situation is not so.

Yes, you are right razim17. People enjoy life according to how they believe life should be. it is just how one views life that one could enjoy life. People who dream too high and cannot achieve their dreams are unhappy because they are disappointed for not having reached their goal so it's always better to have simple dreams. Thanks.

I think a simple life is better than a life that is hard to achieve. By being simple and having friends, life would be happier indeed. Cheers!

I am enjoying life even during economic crisis because genuine happiness does not depend on money. There are lots of wonderful and satisfying things in life that are free. My happiness just revolved around in simple things,if I can see a fine weather, beautiful sunrise, magnificent sunset, the breezy environment, peace of mind, knowing my family is safe and healthy, then I am super okay and very relaxed.

Me too, the simple life for me. I have had to go without before in my life, and now I actually feel so blessed. I am not worried about what I have or don't have, but enjoying my time on this earth instead.

Let's always put in mind an old, tried and tested quote on happiness... "the best things in life are free" True happiness should not come from material things but from simple pleasures life brings.

There are actually plenty of ways to do to enjoy life even if there's economic crisis cause its not all about the money that we can say for ourselves that we are going to be happy about the kind of life that we are having. There are things that we can do that does not involve money. If you come to think of your good health, and that you are still alive, and your family is there with and other loved ones, they are reason enough be enjoy life and to be happy about the life that we have.

I must admit that right now I am deeply affected by the economic crisis but I think the best way for us to enjoy life despite of this is to find happiness that does not depend on material things. Sometimes we tend to forget that happiness is a very easy thing to achieve it's in every corner of our house playing with your kids or preparing a simple snack that the whole family can eat while watching the tv can be a lot of fun. W e don't need to go to the mall and spend some money to eat or watch movies if we are on a tight budget. Being contented and learning to accept of the things that you have right now is the key to enjoy life.

Lots of money is not needed to enjoy life and be happy. though money can take you to nice places and lets you buy lots of things, still it is transient. true happiness starts from within.

So that we can be happy even in a crisis: - Trying desperately - Pleading to God - Request for support to family and friends - Convinced that every problem there is a way out - And another positive thing that made me enjoy and happy

I enjoy life by reseaching on simple things that can help me.Just by researching everything that I lack of like beauty secrets to still be able to achieve good skin.I love planning things beforehand so less problems will occur than just doing something right ahead.

Well the economic crisis has not had much of an effect in India and so it doesn't make a difference to people living here, especially in my part of the country. Those living in more developed parts of the world seem to be the ones adversely affected.
