Do you ever just assume it's their baby?

When you see a guy and a girl together with a baby do you ever just assume it's tehirs? I do, almost allthe time.
And when you see teenagers (maybe a couple) with a baby carriage d you give them dirty looks? I used to (not neccessarily dirty looks, but the thought poped into my head).
Then one day my boyfriend and I were walking through walmart with his younger sister who is only a few months old and we were ostrasized in that department store because everyone thought teh baby was ours.
It got me to think twice about the next time I assumed.

When I was in Australia I worked as a children's nanny. I often had to explain to people that I wasn't the children's mother. The girl next door was nineteen years old. She was the nanny of five children. Australian people are honest and most usually they tend to say exactly what they think. They often said she should be ashamed of herself for having so many children and being so young.
My Aunt had two daughters and when they were 16 and 14 years old she had a baby boy. People used to think that the baby was on one theirs and that one of them was a teenage mother. They used to put people right and mention that the baby was their brother.
If a mother is old when she has her baby when that child reaches secondary school people might assume that the lady is the kids grandparent. People tend to make their own mind up when they meet new people. It was terrible that people in my locality thought that your boyfriend's baby sister is your baby. My oldest son is 14 years old and I have a 2 year old son plus a 9 month old daughter as well. I tend to ask rather than assume.

Yes, I do it sometimes. Whenever I see some of of my friends, that I've never seen for a very long time, who are going out with kids, I assume that they're with their children.
