Hi mylottors,
With various pressure in society increasing day by day, ,many people are suffering from mental problems. However, few of them voluntarily seek the psychiatric help, for it is widly regarded as a sign of weakness. How far do your agree with this view?
Have got this kind of experiences?
Thank you very much and have a nice day!

Seeking psychiatric help shows that your head is on your shoulders. Mind needs as much care as our body as both are inter-connected. A healthy mind helps maintain a healthy body and it is vital that this fact is known to one and all.

i dont think its a sign of weakness at all. myself i go see one once a month, i ended up going to see one because my family doctor told me i should see one.
i went to get help, its not i am weak, its i am strong enough knowing when i needed help with things that was going on in my life.

Hi guy, thanks for your reponse!
And I like your words, "I am strong enough knowing when I needed help with things that was going on in my life." That's damn right! Seeking help whethere psychiatric or not, is not sign of weakness but a sign of power showing our brilliance. As you mentioned, we are strong so we know need help and we seeking for it.

I disagree. Seeking psychiatric help definitely is not a sign of weakness. Actually, it is a sign of strength. It is the "not seeking psychiatric help" that is the sign of weakness!

Hi there, of course, I agree with you totally! Unfortunately, there are some people who having such problems dare to seeking help. They care what others opinions towards them. That is terrible! Maybe it is not the fault of someone but the envioronment we live. What do you think of it?

No, seeking psychiatric help is definately not a sign of weakness. It is someone who cannot deal with their life or problems on their own. And therefore that person need help to function, if i can put it that way. There is absolutely nothing weak or wrong about it. TATA.

Hi there, I agree with you totally. Even though I havn't the experience of seeking psychiatric help, I did need it sometimes. Concerned of the weakness stuff, I refused to see a psychiatric doctor. That sounds awful, right?

No, definitely not. People should be aware that not only can the body become ill. The mind can get sick as well. People get sick every now and then. Is seeing the doctor a sign of weakness? Of course not, albeit the time taken for a psychiatric problem may take a longer time to heal.

I believe that seeking psychiatric help is clever and courageous, it is not a sign of weakness. It is a clever thing to do because if you do have a psychiatric problem, you have just saved yourself from having a more severe condition by having yourself checked while it is still early. A psychiatric problem, like any other health deficits, worsens as the time of not being treated is prolonged. The more you prevent yourself from treatment, the more you condition worsens. Better be safe than sorry.
Having psychiatric problem doesn't always mean that you are crazy, so you have nothing to worry and be ashamed about. It may mean that you are psychologically stressed because of work and cannot sleep.etc..

Hi there,
No one think seeking psychiatric is something wrong but they do have much concern when they have to get these help.
They do care what others think of them. This is the attitude of the whole society and truly it is not healthy for us to live in such high pressure condition.
Thank you for your reponse.

I don't think it's a sign of weakness rather determination to make a positive change in their life & acknowledge that what they are feeling isn't quite right. I think now days it's easier to point out mental issues than it being someones "personality" KWIM?
