Why do people get tattoos?

I would like to get a tattoo someday because it's cute- just a small one, after I've donated some blood [because I heard that you can't donate blood for 7 years after getting a tattoo].. But others have tattoos all over their body, why do people like to undergo so much pain? [because tattoos really hurt and sometimes they get infected]

I think having tattoos for other people is more than just the pain, for them tattoos are expression of their beliefs and their personality.For some other people its just for body expression too, different explanation for alot of people, like for you its just for fun because you find it cute. Whatever reason it is for as long as we are having fun its all good for us

I dont , i like my skin soft and smooth all the time. Makes me feel even sexier , just kidding, seriously , i like my skin clean most of the times. Im pretty much particular with my body i dont like any markings or what. Not that i have something against people who likes tattoos its just not my style

Well, different persons have different reasons. Me, I want to have a tattoo because I want something to be tattooed on my skin so it will stay with me forever, I mean there is something that I believe in or there's something that I should always remember that I want it on my skin forever, that's why I want to get a tattoo.

It's an art kind of thing I guess. Some people like them as many here have said to express themselves. Not good when you get old and your skin sags, so does the tattoo, lol. But then it's what you like so who cares.

I'm not so sure either, others get it because it looks cool- they even put the names of their loved ones in their body or Jesus' name... But I have no tattoo and no plans of getting any.
