Thanks to an epic foxtrot, there is not enough food & water supplies to meet the needs of the expanding population of the U.S. military in Afghanistan. What happened was there wasn't sufficient surge of food & water to meet the surge of human bodies.

This is a problem when you order a sudden increase in men. It takes time to build up the supply chain also. This is poor planning on the part of the someone. This happens when you don't have the supplies ahead of time or when you lack the back up aircraft or ships to move the supplies. It is like planning for a vacation and you decide at 8:00 AM that you are going on a 2 week vacation and you have to catch a plane at 1:00 PM,. You can get to the airport in time but when you get to your vacation location you find that in the rush you forgot many items or brought the wrong things. The military can not just stop at Walmart and pick up the missing items.

That is true. Food and water are pretty basic supplies, and some are saying they are missing up to three meals a day, and some marines are dealing with fleas.
