Well, go figure, yet ONCE again I can not get the photo to upload in the discussion. So I'll hopefully add it to the first response if it's at all possible. But anyhow, I have a large red maple tree out front of my house. A very beautiful tree. But it is deteriorating quickly. Mainly from the Downy Woodpeckers. They have pecked a large hole in the base to get at the bugs inside. It's too late to deter them as this has been going on for some time it seems. In 5 years or so I fear the tree will be dead from their pecking. Do you have woodpeckers in your area that damage your trees or keep you awake with their pecking noise?
As always.....
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Why don't you hang some suet up to keep them busy? Maybe you can save the tree this way if they have food rather than have to forage. That's a shame but I know it happens. Maybe get an old CD and let it hang from a branch to keep them away?
