What are you expecting from the 2010 elections

The May 2010 election is growing near and there are a lot of discussions on who is better than the other. What do you think are the best qualifications on being a good president? The qualifications for running for presidency are very simple but lately we see some candidates spending billions on advertising their campaign instead of using it to help the people.Others are promising to help the poor but when they get elected nothing happens. It makes you wonder what is happening to the country. To me it makes no difference wether they are rich or not as long as they have a clean and honest record. But one person cannot solve the the problems of the country

If we want change in the form of governance we should elect someone who is willing to do the "unpopular acts" just to get the job done. But the one I'm talking about did not push through his plans, he however slid down to the vice presidential race. (Fernando) Back to the topic, a president shouldn't be a president of the rich nor a president of the poor. The president should be president of the people not just president of a certain sector. Cleanliness and honesty does not actually equate to being a good leader. There's what we call necessary evil -- a bitter medicine which we need to swallow in order to cure the sickness. We shouldn't really expect that the president will solve our problems. We are all committed to nation-building, no matter how small we are, poor or rich, educated or not, we have our specific roles. As to the presidency I'm down to three choices: Teodoro, Villar, Gordon VP = Fernando all the way!!

Vote for Gordon if i were you. he and bayani are pretty much similar except that bayani was never a senator or red cross volunteer.well, that's my suggestion, i don't what others would say. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FjAQA8g2Cdw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJijK_AC4gs

i think this coming election would be a worse one, considering the fact that its the first time in our history to have a computerized election. i just hope that this upcoming election will not become a failure or else, we just have to expect worst things coming. i just really hope that bayani fernando would win as VP. but sad to say, popularity is one of the factors in winning. and bayani is not popular in provinces. but i really admire his principles. if people would just realize that he can change our country for the better, then we can hope to have a better standard of living soon.

Elections are being a very violent battlefield. I remember my wife's uncle getting killed in Ilocos just because he is a relative of someone running for a position. It makes you think that only people with power can run because they have money to protect themselves. I hope that will not be the case though

right now, I am just hoping for a more peaceful elections. as much as I would want to stay positive and hopeful, it feels like I am only choosing who the lesser evil and it is a bit sad. and I agree, one person cannot solve the problems of the country and 6 years is too short a time as well.

My brother is running for mayor this election. I hope no one cheats and will have a fair and peaceful election. I wish that the next president of our country will not cheat on us. I wish there will be no corruption anymore. Please vote wisely!

It is our human nature to become oppurtunists. There is no problem with that. However, if you spend money which is not yours- that is cheating. When it's given to you, off course- for whatever reasons, take it. It's not cheating. Hope your brother wins.

Well, Philippine Politics as usual, has always been- dirty. Whoever wins may not be able to solve our country's problems specifically our debts but hopefully will not make it worse.

i will be expecting the next president to work harder than the current president, as well as taking lesser money compared to her. also, ill be expecting more support to the next president as well as a cleaner name compared to her. at least it'll be the end of a 12 year-long rivalry of ERAP and GMA and a start of a new government, unless erap will seat once more, then it'll be another 6 years of government throwing accusations everyday.

hello blackmail, As for me, the best qualified is Senator Richard Gordon. but i have to be honest, the people are so drawn to the famous, rich and popular which is really depressing me. not because they prefer the other guy but they have a poor sense of getting to know the candidate better. After the debates and interviews i realized that Gordon is best of them all. if he does not win, then expect another six years in hell.

I agree with louierrific that the president should be the president for all sectors, and not just the poor or the rich. But who is that person who does not care if treads on other people's toes as long as it is for the good of the majority? I don't like Villar because I have had a lot of personal experience about his or his corporation's shenanigans. Like any businessman, he will just destroy anything that stands on his way. I don't like Gibo because anyone who endorsed by GMA is ... I'm still deciding between Gordon and Noynoy. For VP, Fernando of course! What we need is political will, and he has them in spades.
