We all have flipflops and some of us really go barefoot here in the Philippines. I think we are all part of the cause. lol

These people dont even have the luxury of flip flops Basqui. Its something that we take for granted. We dont do this purposely. We just do things subconciously, All we ask is that people realize that there are people in the world less fortunate than we are. Awareness is the first step. dl

Yeah, awareness. We just don't have to do things to sympathize but we could help out on some good causes for less fortunate by going to charity sites. I have joined care2 before and you could give help there by doing things. Check it out at care2.com. Or there's a similar site: hungersite.com. Help out, see you there!

You have very good questions my friend. Imagine how people who dont own one pair of shoes feel. Imagine their feet! The bottoms must be so tough to protect them from rocks and other dangerous terrain. Happy MyLotting dl

Cher You have such a great attitude!!! You have a good heart. If only more people could be like this. If you could read the responses I received regarding this simple request. I had one person tell me its there fault. Another that they would try it but its too cold for no shoes. Are you serious? We need to have you show them how to be openminded, generous, and any other amazing traits you care to pass on. Happy MyLotting friend. dl

This is my first time to hear this project. But it is indeed a very good activity. Some people are living very well but they don't realize it. Not everybody is the same lucky all over the world. I love China

Thanks for your open mindedness.Thats all we can hope for. When I look at the hundred dollar sneakers my kids wear I think of how many shoes it could buy for less fortunate children. Sad to know that some kids never had a pair of shoes, thanks. dl

Today is a great day to go without shoes. It is in the mid 80's and sunny. Glad today is no shoe day instead of tomorrow when it is going to be rainy and in the 60's.

Thanks for having such a great, fun, and open attitude about it. I know realistically that people have to work or go into stores. Im just spreading the word. Who knows maybe someone who has the financial capabilities can donate. Its just a good thing to be able to help in an extraordinary way. Thank you for your help dl

The movement is to get people to understand that there are people out there that cant put shoes on when necessary. There is a movement to help these underpriveleged kids to be able to make the decision whether or not to wear them. Thanks for going barefoot. dl

Hey, this is fine. it is like going for a penance during the Holy Week. People should share their sentiments with those people who have no shoes but I think I will do this inside the house. I always wear slippers inside the house but i will go barefoot today. lol

Thanks for your kind sentiments. Hopefully at the end of this everyone will have the choice to not wear slippers in or outside. Small children dont have slippers to take off, This is what we want to get out to the world. There are people walking miles an miles in the cold with no options. This misfortune falls into everyones hands. Thanks for your help. dl

I actually go about in bare feet quite regularly and I believe it is healthier to do so. You get closer to nature as you get grounded to the earth and your body can move the way that it is supposed to. If these people that are without shoes are in warmer climates, then let them stay without shoes I say! There have been studies showing that people have weakened their hips, knees and spine by being cushioned by these comfortable shoes that we wear these days. A lot of runners are going back to a more natural form of footwear that has no cushioning and has a more natural effect on how the body moves. It is believed that this strengthens up these joints.

As what you say is true Bill, its not good to go without shoes as children on a daily basis. You can put them on for rockier or unsafe conditions. Some of these people literally walk miles daily to and fro so shoes are beneficial. dl

Yeah, shoes would help them in situations like that, but most of the times they would be better off without them. They do not want to get dependant on them like most westerners are.

I've actually never heard of this one until now. And I am now sad to say that I did put on shoes yesterday so that I could go to my aerobics class. However, if it is any consulation at all, my son didn't put on shoes at all yesterday. Yes, that does mean that he was out in front of our house after the older kids got home from school playing with barefeet. Okay, in our defense, both of my children were born and have been raised all of their lives to date in Kentucky.

Its quite alright that you had appointments. I just wanted people to know about it that's all. Tell your son that he helped the cause. Maybe you guys could discuss how it must feel to not have a choice whether to wear shoes or not. My daughter and I discussed the fact that she buys expensive sneakers and there are people who dont own a pair of anything. going barefoot isnt the only way to help a cause. Thanks so much for trying dl

Thanks busy! Just allowing yourself to be aware of the goings on around the world. From what I understand a gentleman has started a movement around the world trying to make sure every child everywhere has a pair of shoes. Certain things can hurt the feet such as extreme cold, extreme hot, bugs and animal bites, etc. Imagine what its like to walk miles on rocks in cold with bare feet. It could cause injuries and impede the growth. we must all take responsibilty to help others. SOme of us cant afford to buy shoes or donate money but you can pass it on. Let others know about the cause. Happy MyLotting dl

In India, we don't use shoes inside the home. In my hometown, we run around to our relatives next door without shoes. So, I am pretty much used to going barefoot...though it might be difficult to do that now...where I find sharp stones (I could do it when I was younger). We also go barefoot in the temples and there are cemented areas and sand areas at the temples. We are all fine with going barefoot. My younger son used to hate wearing his shoes till a few months back and he would take them off every chance he got...especially in the play area...I think he liked to feel the sand on his feet. It's good that you are encouraging people to do it for a cause:)

As you have said it wasnt always good especially when there were sharp stones. That's what I want people to realize that it's not all fun and games. Some kids are suffering without shoes. Those are the ones we need to help. thanks again dl

I love going barefoot and yesterday and today the weather was so perfect for it. I know I'm not the only one that just loves to be barefoot in the beautiful weather. I think if they really, really want to drill home how it feels for these people then they should set the date in January or February when it is bitter cold. If you go without shoes all the time, your feet toughen up.

You are absolutely right Sid. Also imagine small children going thru winter months with no shoes. Frost bite could set in and cause permanent defects in the feet and legs. We just want to let people know that there are some who dont have the choice to decide whether or not to wear shoes. Happy MyLotting my friend, dl

How dare they! lol I thank you for making the effort. Its more than most are capable of. Ive never seen so many make such an issue from my request. This was a story i had heard of many times in the last few months. I think that its remarkable for any man or woman to take on any type of a cause to help the less fortunate. There is a recession on so its hard to donate money. Most dont honestly have it right now. To walk in someone elses footsteps is a great way to show support. thanks so much for your support. happy Barefooting dl

Of course it counts my friend! Its your way of showing support front! Thanks so much for that. It let me see that people can show support in many different ways. Every little bit helps. Someone may read this and own a shoe company. They may donate money, shoes or anything helpful. By responding you helped me create a discussion for all to see. thanks.its my first time to hear such tradition. i remember my grandfather,a farmer, who always goes barefooted. he is not comfortable in wearing shoes and slippers. the only time i saw him wearing one,is when he visited us or if there is a important celebration like marriage and baptism but most of the time he is barefooted

That's nice memory unstoppable! Im sure he loved the earth under his feet. The reason for this no shoe movement is for the people that have no choice in the matter. They send shoes to impoverished nations. I wish everyone was like your grandpa. thanks for sharing. dl
