Underage in Hospital - Do they call your parents?

If you are brought into a hospital or you check yourself in and you are under the age of sixteen and your records say that you are still in the care of your parents (or some oher gaurdian) do they doctors have to call them? If you ask them not to will they still do so.
Say you were brought in by an ambulance, do th same things apply?

Im sure that if a minor was involved in an accident that required hospitalization they would probably ask the person who to reach and what number to dial i know that from watching the tv show house before they even consider operation they need parental consent but i'm sure that one way or another they will find a way to make contact with the parents before they load and go or at the hospital
