I Got It!

I got the internship at the zoo :) My interview was today and he told me that they'll start getting my schedule figured out. I'll either be starting May 31st or the beginning of June. The guy that interviewed me was very nice--he said he would try to get me in the "birds and primates" and "hoof stock" groups (which is what I want to work with). Can't wait to start working with the animals, but I'm so nervous!

Oh congrats lily, how exciting..The closest zoo to us is way over an hours drive away or I would have tried applying for a job there. I love animals, though truthfully I would rather work with reptiles than birds. I like snakes, but the beaks on birds scare me..

OMG! You speak my mind carmela!! I would rather work with reptiles over birds too...but unfortunately birds and primates are put into the same group, so to work with one I have to work with the other--and my heart is on working with the primates! I'm happy I live this close to TWO zoos. They're both about 30-40minutes drives from me. But the zoo I'll be interning at is only a 10 minute drive from my sisters house, so I'll be staying with her this summer! Thank you

Yeah, and it's basically a strait shot. I maybe make 1 turn and then I drive straight the rest of the way, it's really easy and quick! I love it! :)

Congratulations on landing the internship I am sure you'll start before you know it and the nervousness will quickly dissipate once you get out there with the animals! Are you allowed to take photographs of the animals?

Thank you cowgirl!! Yeah once I get to start working with the animals and get to know the people my nerves will go away and I'll have a lot of fun! I'm not sure if I'm allowed to take pictures or not. I would LOVE to have some pictures of me with the animals, I'll have to wait awhile until I know exactly what I'll be doing there. You guys are confusing me!!! lol

Well thank you ersanmiguel, but I won't be getting paid for it...lol. In fact I had to pay a fee to do this--but I wanted the experience. It'll look good on a resume.

I didn't really ask. I guess they know the experience is important to people, for their resumes...which is exactly why I wanted to do this...lol

This is wonderful and heartiest congratulations to you! I’m sure working at the zoo with all the animals will be an exciting opportunity for you…most of us are working all the time with people and getting so stressed out…I’m sure animals wont stress you out like that LOL …come to think of it, even I’m getting interested though its not possible for me to change jobs like that but if ever I get a chance, I’d love working with animals. BTW, did you train specially for this?
