Carpet Cleaners - Which is the best?

If you own your own dwelling, I would suggest purchasing your own steam cleaner as in the end it will be less expensive as well as convenient for when your carpets need cleaning. The best carpet steam cleaner I have ever used is made by Bissel. It is an upright and works better, doing a way better job than the local commercial carpet cleaning company. If you just want to get the carpets done, go rent a steam cleaner from say, Safeway. They work fairly good and is probably the least expensive way to go. I would do it myself rather than getting a carpet cleaning company in. If you choose to use a company to do it for you, research. Consult a few companies, if possible and ask questions as to the type of machines that they use. I wouldn't advise using a company that uses a a more common approach as a truck mounted carpet cleaning service. In my experience, the job is low quality. Perhaps some truck mount carpet cleaners are better than others however so ask around first. I feel doing it myself ensure a better job. Whether I own my own machine or rent one.

I have always cleaned my own carpets. I have hardwood floors now so I don't have to worry about it anymore though. When I had carpet..I couldn't really afford to have my carpet cleaned by a company so I just rented cleaner. Later, I bought my own. I guess the product depends. I have heard of people using a degreaser on carpet in their car or for more extreme cases, their home. They sprayed it directly on the stain and then used the carpet cleaner with water in it to get it up. I have always just used the dirt devil brand of carpet cleaner because that was what was suggested with the cleaner I had. It worked really good.
