I'm from a country which speaks english as a second language. I want to improve and hopefully get fluent with it. Can you give me some techniques, advice or anything that will effectively enhance my english. I want to try applying in call centers here in out country. I will appreciate any suggestion or advice. Thanks.

I think your English is already okay. Besides, when you start out in a call center, they will be training you too, with your English and other stuff. So have a go at it.

Just try to participate as much and incase you find a word that you don't understand properlyl, check it in the dictionary.

Wow, I would say there is nothing wrong with your English skills. Your communication here is great and your grammer and spelling are better than mine and I was born and raised in Canada and don't know any other language but English. But in saying all that the best way to improve is practise, practise, practise. Which you are not doing as a member with mylot which is too bad. Mylot is a wonderful place to learn. Because of mylot I have picked up my typing skills so much and I have learned better grammer. My spelling still isn't the best but I get by enough and so would you. Too bad you didn't give mylot more of a chance than just one posting, I know from the number by your name (1) and you probably did okay with your earnings on this one posting because you got a lot of responses to it, so why did you leave? I hope you get a notification from mylot that I responded and you come back to the site and give it a chance this time around my friend. Cheers and Happy mylotting my friend Chris

If you want you can apply for an English course. But if you are on a budget then maybe you should try doing self practice. Read english book or novels and a dictionary at hand too so that if you encounter a difficult word you can look up the word thus widening your vocabulary. You can also watch english films. The best way could be searching the internet for english tutorial. I know there are a lot of free sites that offer that. About working in a call center, I think most call centers have a training period were you would be taught of the proper diction, i think they use american accent there so you must also learn how to pronounce it with an accent. Hope this helps. Just remember that practice is the best solution.

Maybe you should try something that will allow you to practice your English from day to day experience. It might not be easy, or you might bump into many difficulties, or awkward situation, but you still get a chance to improve your English skills though. Why not take a dive for it, you might speak fluent English in no time. Good luck with it.

Using podcasts designed for an English speaking audience is a great way. You can easily pick up on common slang and start to develop a more in depth knowledge of the English language. Many podcasts are free and there are loads of topics that you can choose from.

Well there are plenty of literature on this, and there are also experts, who conduct workshops and seminars based on communication skills of men and women. In fact, a large number of companies are bringing in trainers to regularly conduct sessions on the subject, in order to help their work force maintain better interpersonal work relations.
