Job

If you could have any job right now what would it be? I was talking to my hubby and we got on the subject that if the Government paid for job training for everyone one welfare and SSI. That they could study and get a job. Then, the government would not have to pay for them to be on welfare or SSI again. But, the government would also have to help them get a job when they finish the training. What do you think? I know it needs to have a few more rules but what do you think would make this work? And, would you do it if this became possible? Now, you would have training and a job but you could not just sit home and collect a check each month. And, this is everyone. The only one's that wold not have to do this is the one's that are mentally or physical unable. But, if you could lick a stamp and put a flier in an envelope you can work. No more excuses that you are to tired to over weight or don't have the right clothes or training. You will have it. Do you think ppl would do it or are they just wanting the check and not work? What do you think? *Peace and Love get's you through everything in life*

There actually is something like this in my state. I see fliers like that around my apartment complex all the time. I'm on Section 8 because I'm on disability. I worked until I couldn't. I'm pathetically young to be on SSI. If I could hold down a job, I could get one without any additional training (I've had previous jobs and went to college). However, there are a lot of people who could not, and I am wholeheartedly behind programs like that in every state. I think it is a good thing that we have that here in Oklahoma.

U have touched on what of my pet peeves w/your discussion. I am not able to work anymore but i put in 47 years of working. I truly believe that the biggest majority of people who draw disability, ss, food satamps etc. are perfectly able to work & need to be working instead of drawing all the free stuff..I think it's ridiculous that they are not working & ridiculous that our goverment is letting them do it. It's been going on for years & years & i wish somebody will step in & clean up the system. All there are is just a bunch of lazy, good for nothings. The sad thing people who really need help can't get it. GO FIGURE??

Overall it sounds like a good plan. But there are some who are on SSI who really do not have the ability to work. But for those who could it would be nice. The problem is that SSI has too broad of requirements. The whole purpose is to support those who cannot work. I had lots of students on SSI when I taught school and they did not need to be. Those are the ones who need to be dropped from the program. The parents just figured out a way to work the system. But for those who could learn how to do a trade or skill I think it is a very good idea!

Some people are comfortable just sitting around and collecting givernment funds. I feel that this would be beneficial for individuals between the ages of 18-30 who are seeking direction in their life. This would be an excellent program
