Global economical crisis and mass media

Business cycles are something usual in economy but what happens in our commercial world when mass media gets involved in the process? My answer to what happens is: mass panic. I think that mass media worsen the situation - a lot of companies fire their employees before the crisis has reached them. Then more ppl got unemployed and more people start to look for job while less position in companies look for new people and cicle gets going. What do u think?

I would say that CNN and the BBC had a role in the economic crisis, perhaps even causing it initially and definitely fueled it and prolonged it far beyond the norms of news reporting. Now they want the Greek economy to fail.
