Why should attempt to commit suicide be considered a 'punishable crime'?

Don't we even own our own life?

this is an issue which i've always been wondering about. i've read through the other posts, everyone seems to have a good point from their own perspectives. but is still fail to understand that if someone wants to kill himself, and doesn't succeed, we put him in prison with all the other stressful elements that come with it. wouldn't that person feel like he should kill himself anyway? i'm just confused...

As far as I know and what I believe in, we really don't own our life. It's God's! When you kill someone, it is consider a mortal sin. Whether it's yours or not.
