No National Debt or World Peace?

If you have a choice between no national debt or world peace, which would you choose and why? I think it's interesting how much debt the nations have accumulated. The government spends money it doesn't have, but yet, if we don't pay our mortgages, our homes get taken away. I could go on and on about it, but I'll spare you! I think world peace would be a wonderful thing as well. The world could share the same currency and provide more incentive for individuals to want to travel overseas more frequently. Please share which you would rather have and why you would choose one over the other.

no national debt. I think that would be the first one. If we don't have to think our country's debt. With that we would be able to be given an opportunity to help other countries. In helping other countries that's were we promote world peace..

I think it would be wonderful to help other countries with our own money! Right now, we're borrowing money to help others. That's just not right. I think if/when we get out of debt, there will be wonderful results. Thanks for your thoughtful response.

Thanks! You never know...if we had world peace, we probably wouldn't have as much or any national debt perhaps because everything would be working out. So maybe your choice would lead to the nation being able to have both peace and no debt. If only...I don't know that we'll ever know what either is like, but it's a great subject to consider!

Nice one JJ.. YOur very right about that. I know that borrowing and being in debt is a bad thing but we just have no choice but to do so.

Great discussion there! I think I would go for World Peace. In a time when we are struggling to settle the nuclear deals and proliferation and the ongoing betrayals and hatred , we are no better than the medieval period of game, glory, poisoning and bloodsheds! We have progressed and exponentially gone backward in the incivility o the human race. Sad but true.

World Peace would be absolutely amazing. I know deep down everyone wants to get along. It may seem like an impossibility, but I think it could happen someday. I guess we will see!

Both of these things would be nice if they happened, would they not? And they both seem to be extremely impossible. Of course, one of these seems a bit less possible then the others but I'll get into that in the minute. Still even one of these things being in place, the world would be a nice better place and it would be a lot more comfortable. Wiping the National Debt, yeah that would be nice. The government spends a little too much. Now it is a great that the United States government helps out other countries, but there is some times where we got to think about ourselves and stop sticking our feet in every pool in the world. I think if we step back and really be selective about how we spend our money, then the National Debt might be cleared up one day. Whether it would happen in this life time, that is up for debate, but it is possible. World Peace, I never see this happening ever. There are just too many groups in this world that will always be at the throats of each other to cause World Peace. Just too many differences which is obviously a good thing in many ways but also will cause World Peace to be but a dream. Therefore, the National Debt being wiped out is more logical than World Peace occurring. So when you think of things under that way, then I would say I would rather have no National Debt, because of that being less impossible.

I really appreciate your explanation and completely agree with you that World Peace is the more impossible of two seemingly unimaginable positive outcomes in this world. I like your positive attitude on the possibility of National Debt being wiped out. The way I see it, right now it's the U.S. is "robbing Peter to pay Paul," so to speak. In other words, the U.S. is using money it doesn't have to pay for things it may or may not need. (If the U.S. doesn't have the money for it, I think it's not a need.) That's jut me, but I'm with you on the fact that this debt could definitely be more easily wiped out someday if the government will take the appropriate steps to doing so. It seems to me that this is not one of the main concerns, but who knows...maybe it will be someday! Thanks so much for your detailed response. It was a pleasure to read.
